the travelling friend in a box, lurks around an abandoned area of town. Its face rarely seen as it floats in a bloody box suspended by balloons filled with the spirits of its victims.
Back in the 90's there was a toy company that strived to bring fun and friendship to sick children in the U.S. They planned to make a life long companion to the less privileged children in the country, primarily geared to towards terminally ill children. The prototype was successful created and was given to a child named Billy who was living the last of his days in a children's hospital.
The 'friend' exhibited odd and controlling behavior towards Billy and told him they are best friends 'till the end and he shouldn't talk to the other children. However the child miraculously recovered and started to interact and make friends with the other children in the hospital while growing distant from his toy. This brought anxiety and anger to the toy who felt betrayed and lost without Billy. A week before Billy was to be released from the hospital a tragic fire happened which engulfed the entire hospital and killed everyone within. The cause of the fire was unknown but everyone in the hospital from doctors, nurses to children died. An investigation to the fire was conducted and the source of the fire was traced to Billy's room. The charred skeletal remains of Billy were found resting on the steel bed frame, but the friend and its box were nowhere to be found.
The community devastated by the loss of young life demolished the hospital. Many residents living around the hospital moved away creating a slum-like portion of the town. However strange occurrences began happening nearby the abandoned area. Kids who go playing in the area started to mysteriously disappear leaving behind personal belongings covered in blood, sometimes even torn limbs.
Some residents could hear the voices of their lost children around the dark alleyways and some residents even seen a distant object in the sky resembling an air balloon but any encounters with it were brief as it would disappear shortly after. Children who didnt disappear recall hearing a voice calling to them to come and play. The dark entity lurking over the town had a mysterious power of the minds of the parents in the community and they would often encourage their own children to play near the abandoned area.
