Eöl from Tolkien's The Silmarillion
Someone recently was talking about how, because Eöl hangs out with the dwarves, he might have tattoos too. Eöl isn’t much of a follower though, so I think he’d be into scleral tattooing. Tolkien also talks about his unsettling/keen glance, so it got me thinking.
Bonus fact: Scleral tattooing can lead to unexplained light sensitivity, something that fits well with Eöl only wanting to be out at night.

This one is just plain AMAZING! The character's expression, costume, and that little bit of aqua in the middle is a nice touch too! (how you described this character gets me in the mood to read The Silmarillion!)

The Silmarillion is SO great! It's a bit of a challenging read, but there's so much pay off and reread value too. I highly recommend it.

I've tried reading Toliken's books before but I couldn't get into them, but maybe I should try the Silmarillion some time!

The Hobbit is the most accessible of his books, and the easiest one to get into. I'd say The Silmarillion is the hardest book to get into, but it's also the best one, in my opinion!
