I couldn't help it. I had to draw her. the little doodle of the three-legged pony was just too adorable to be ignored. her colors were decided upon during a facebook thread, and her more manageable mane design is thanks to one of the group's members. I used an Applejack vector I found on google as reference for the pose. the original doodle that started this whole thing can be found right here: Anna's Pony: small children's doodles are adorablein addition to drawing her, I also just couldn't help writing a little back story for her written from her perspective.
“Well, hello there! My name’s Lollipop, it’s a pleasure to meet you.
I bet I know what you’re wondering. Oh, don’t feel bad. Everypony wonders about it when they first meet me. I’m used to it. To tell you the truth, I’d probably wonder too if I was in your horseshoes. You’re wondering, ‘why does that mare only have three legs? Was it some horrific accident? Did she lose it in some grand act of heroism? Or perhaps grand stupidity?’ No, no, my friend. Nothing so dramatic. It’s actually rather simple. I was just born like this. In fact, the doctors knew about it even before I was born.
I remember my mom telling me about the day she and dad got the news. They’d gone into the hospital for an ultrasound. That’s when the doctors realized. They told my parents to be prepared. That their little filly would never be like everypony else. That it’d be hard and stressful. But my parents just shrugged and daddy said ‘It doesn’t really matter. She’s our daughter. We love her.’ And as far as me ‘never being like anypony else,’ they’ve always jokingly told me that they took that as a very good omen.
My fillyhood was pretty typical. I never felt different from any of my friends. I mean, I knew that there was a difference. I knew that they had four legs and I had three. But I never really felt any significant impact from that, you know? I never felt that only having three legs was bad. I didn’t particularly feel like it was good either, it was just life. It was just the way things were, neither good or bad. Sure, I ran a little differently and I found inventive ways of accomplishing tasks that you usually need two hooves for. But since that was all I’d ever known, it didn’t seem that weird to me.
I definitely think it would have been worse to lose it somehow. Ponies sometimes ask me if I wish I’d had it for part of my life just so I could know what it felt like. So I’d at least have the memory. On the contrary, I think that would drive me mad. At least this way I don’t have the opportunity to really miss it. Ignorance is bliss, and all that, right?
As for my current life, I’m a traveling representative for my family’s confectionary company. My parents started it in Fillydelphia right after they were married. We’ve become well known enough that ponies started traveling from other cities just to buy our sweets. That’s when I decided to start traveling. I go from town to town giving samples and selling recipes to local confectioners. That way, our business gets royalties, local shops increase their business, and ponies all over Equestria can enjoy my family’s products.
It’s very rewarding work for me. I get to see the country and meet all kinds of interesting ponies. Then I get to go back home to my wonderful parents and friends. In the end, I wouldn’t trade my life for anything. I love it. And I love the experiences only having three legs has given me. I don’t think I’d even want a fourth leg if it were possible to have one. I already have everything I need. I feel very blessed."
