Description
In honour of the G/S generation of pokemon games. A lot of great pokemon aspects were introduced in this series, such as day and night and being able to breed pokemon. For those who don't know, watch out for the internal battery. Some game batteries are already starting to run dry and when this happens you will no longer be able to save your games.EDIT: Smoothed out the edges so they are the same colour as the background.
I do not own the pokemon characters, they are characters of Nintendo and I claim no ownership over them, it's just fan art.

excellent stamp.
btw, there's ways to replace the battery, the tricky part is that replacing the battery will most likely make you lose your previous file.

Silver was the first pokemon game I ever played. I am so attached to my pokemon! D: I had no idea about the battery thing - guess I won't be turning it on soon due to paranoia!
But I think I can try to get my dad to replace the battery for me - thank you so much for the warning! (I would have died if I couldn't save)
My favourite starter was Cyndaquil :3

The most massive wave of nostalgia hit me the moment I saw this stamp. I remember those games so well, and I miss them dearly. (Stupid internal battery...)

Same here :) there's just something about that series which stood out from the rest. Apparently the internal battery problem also affects the GB trading card game too (which is weird because it doesn't have any timed events )
Thank you so much for the fav too!

T_T I didn't know the battery ran out. I'd be so upset, losing everything I worked hard on. I LOVED G/S. You could go to two different regions. I wish you could do that in the other versions. How long does the Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald battery last? And does the Diamond/Pearl one last long?

I know, I was devastated too when I found out about the battery :( I'm glad that the day and night made a return in Diamond/Pearl but it wasn't as good since G/S was like the 'original' founders of day and night. I'm not too sure how long the R/S/E battery lasts but when it does run out you can still save and play the game, however timed events like berries growing will not happen (not too sure about mirage island, I think that is affected too). As for Diamond and Pearl, they are 100% safe because from what I've seen they don't have an internal battery, timed events are taken from the Nintendo DS clock (thank goodness!)
Thank you for the fav too! ^_^

I know! The sign of a good game is if you can still play it 10 years later with joy. It's a shame about the battery T_T

GSC was an awesome series, everyone I've talked to has all said how much they enjoyed it. I know what you mean, I spent AGES getting my pokemon to level 100 only to watch them fade away It's a shame we can't transfer them to the later generations.

SheWhoLovesPineapple In reply to phazonwarrior [2008-09-02 02:12:30 +0000 UTC]
Yeah. For me it's not onlthe hard work, but the emotional attatchment I felt for them when I was raising them as a little kid...
I turn on my game and play for a little while without saving, to preserve them as long as I can... as for transfering, apparently Pokemon Stadium 2 is good for that...?

phazonwarrior In reply to SheWhoLovesPineapple [2008-09-02 11:26:57 +0000 UTC]
It's hard not to get attached to them, you could raise your team how you wanted, it was like they were apart of the player.
Yea you can transfer them over to Pokemon Stadium where they won't be deleted but unfortunately they'll be stuck in the 2nd generation series. I don't think Nintendo will create a way to bring them to the 3rd + series.

Either/or in my opinion, I'd hate the day I turn on my Silver version just to have a look at them and the game says the battery's dead, I'd be heartbroken!

Great stamp!!
And thanks for the info. I guess that's why my Silver Version isn't saving anymore. :\
Know of anyway to fix this? Or will I have to scour the stores/internet for another one(assuming those too, aren't low on internal battery power)?

phazonwarrior In reply to ice-fire [2008-07-23 22:27:46 +0000 UTC]
Thanks!
Yes unfortunatly when the battery runs dry you can't save your game anymore. There is a way to save your silver version if you wanted to keep on playing it, you'll need to buy the replacement battery (forgot what the serial number is, but it is on wikipedia, just search pokemon silver :) ) I recommend getting the slightly larger battery, it's compatible with the game and it'll last about 2-3 years longer. To replace the battery you'll need to open the actual cart, sounds a bit drastic but it's the only way to get to the battery. Then pop out the old one and replace it with the new one. I'm not too sure how that works though, but I'm sure someone will have posted how to do it on youtube.
As for looking for another Silver or Gold version, their battery life left would really depend on when they were made. Later games would have a longer battery life then the ones made eariler. You can still get the 2nd gen games from eBay or any good second hand game shop. I hope this helps, thank you for the fav too!

Oh no it's all GBA and GBC and GB games. They all run on a similar battery, so that means that even they'll be gone soon
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
phazonwarrior In reply to crystalkirby [2008-08-19 12:36:07 +0000 UTC]
Ah well not really. The first gen games didn't use the battery to save or load games, and there is no time based events in the first gen so the battery doesn't really matter. In the GBA games they are only used for time based events like growing berries and keeping track of time. Luckily you can still save the game, and you could trade them over to diamond and pearl where they will be safe. Sorry it took a while to reply to this, for some reason your reply didn't get posted in my message

Oh lol that's ok XP

phazonwarrior In reply to crystalkirby [2008-08-20 14:57:43 +0000 UTC]
Crystal will eventually run out of battery life too. The day/night events won't happen since the clock will stop and the time stays the same. I've heard that in some cases when the battery runs dry you can't continue playing the game, it just goes back to the beginning. I guess the only sure way to save your pokemon would be to transfer them to Pokemen Stadium 2 for the N64.
