This is her backstory... (though forgive me for the crude writing)
Bella's OriginsBorn Gabriela Dos Santos, she was raised in a wealthy household. She learned many things at a young age including fencing and dancing. Gabriela's father called her his "Little Rose" as it was her favorite flower. She also has a rivalry with a French girl named Violette Desjardins over which flowers were the best.Then one day while shopping, Dos Santos was kidnapped off the street by what appeared to be a six-foot-tall roach. The roach in question was an underling that worked for a mad scientist. As Dos Santos was brought to some secret lab, the mad scientist experimented on her, using biochemicals to combine her DNA with a rose... The end result was her being mutated into a plant-human hybrid. A rose grew from her head and eventually enveloped much of it while her blond hair turned green, vine-like and thorny. Her eyes became blue, pupil-less, and alien-like.Dos Santos was initially horrified by her new appearance though she wasn't the only one... several other girls were kidnapped and experimented the same way she was. At some point, Dos Santos and these girls managed to escape from the lab, but each went to their respective countries. As Dos Santos wandered her way back to Spain, she learned she could manipulate plant matter within the rosaceae family which included roses of all colors and certain fruits like apples.When Dos Santos returned to Spain, her new appearance made her feel she wasn't ready to see her family. In order to make a living, she joined a flamenco dance group. Going by the stage name "Bella De La Rosa", she was the star attraction of the dance group. It was after one performance Dos Santos would have an unexpected visitor... her father, who had been looking for her ever since her disappearance. When he saw "Bella's" performance, he recognized the music and the choreographic order. He then figured "Bella" was her daughter because he frequently watched her rehearse this particular dance. Reunited with his daughter, her father was overjoyed. He was able to live with Dos Santos' new appearance, though he did point out to Dos Santos that she strongly resembled the rumored "Living Flower of France".When Dos Santos was ready to enroll in college, her father decided to send her abroad to study. He found that the city of Mariton in the US had a unique type of 'diversity'. At this point, Dos Santos decided to stick with the name "Bella De La Rosa" from then on. When she found an apartment room, she had to share it with two other people. One was Teresa Fernandez, a woman who could see spirits, while the other was a mysterious woman named Karla Ravenoff. Bella would eventually get along with these two roommates.As she adjusted to living in Mariton, she would yet have another unexpected encounter... The one known as the "Living Flower of France" which happened to be her old rival Violette Desjardins... someone she hadn't seen for months...
