Description Platform at a train station. Nothing more to say. Comments etc appreciated.

Edit

Since this one is pretty popular, I've re-processed it. Was never particularly fond of how the processing turned out the first time, so I've spent 30 minutes retouching it. Main edits are:

- General contrast increase
- General brightness correction
- Improved detail in clouds
- Improved sky colouration
- Darkened highlights on the platform

Enjoy.

stunning. your eyes can't help following the lines of the photo as far as they'll take you. the coloring is great too.

It does run down to the coast at Minehead but we didn't go that far.

well applied the rule of the thirds..the train comming from the side blends perfectly and gives the idea of movement...u start ur attention to it...follow it to the end..then wonder around the other very good details on the image..then go back to the train...its perfect! colours, lighting and contrast are perfect aswell.. just try adding a black border around it to see if the colours get better (95% of images get better with a border to contrast!)!
overall 19/20!

Thanks very much. I might try adding a border later today when I get time.

This is a really great photo in so many ways!
First I really love the composition, it draws the eye in well.
I also love the way you processed it, as it really makes the colours pop.
Good work!

Thanks very much. I was quite happy with how this one turned out, most of the shots from that trip were mediocre at best.

nice perspective
this would make a really good HDR image, personally

phenomenological In reply to ChatPingIsLegend [2008-05-26 08:55:03 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. I know, but unfortunately I was already holding people up just taking the one shot, so an HDR was out of the question.

ahhhh
well, you can soooorta make them on photoshop by reproducing the image a few times and changing the brightness on each of them.
bit cheeky, but i did one of a portrait of my mum the other day, and i'd say it looks reeeeasonably acceptable haha

Well, I reprocessed it. See the description for a list of changes. What do you think?

ChatPingIsLegend In reply to phenomenological [2008-05-26 14:07:45 +0000 UTC]

ahhh yes, looks a lot better i think
i think there was just a bit too much brightness about it before, sorta lowered the professional look to it
but yeh, definitely better now its more defined

I already did all I could to darken the sky down - It just wasn't to be. Might try and tweak the editing on this sometime today actually, I'm not entirely happy with it.

The composition is really nice and the wet ground and bench just add to the overall effect.

Thank you. Wish I'd had time to get an HDR of it for the sky, but some things aren't meant to be I guess.

Nice shot to see. Perfect composition and balance + focus. To improveme you can clone off the electic line and add some gradient to the sky. Thats all what it needs.

Oh, I like this. The desaturated colours lend themselves to the image excellently, and the lead-in lines work very well. The sky looks blown out in places, but other than that, it's very good.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

phenomenological In reply to serenitygate [2008-03-30 21:29:32 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. I was rushed on this one ebcause I was holding up about 7 people who wanted to walk past, so I didn't have time to properly expose for the sky. Software could only recover so much unfortunately. Glad the lead-ins worked though, that was the main objective.
