I have the best friends. My friend sent this T to me today cause she loves me. It's in reference to one of my all time fav B-movie horror flicks Re-Animator!Dan: "You could have left a note!"
West: "What would a note say, Dan? 'Cat dead, details later'?"

It is. I didn't see it until this year, and only because it happened to come on TV... but glad that I saw it. The shirt is such a cool tribute to it, and I'd totally wear it myself.

You need to hunt out Bride of Re-Animator as well.Β Beyond Re-Animator is fun, but a lot more silly and a lot less true 80's horror.Β
I love the scene in Re-Animator where West and Dan are in the basement after they defeat the cat and West shouts 'Look out!' as a fake scare and then laughs at Dan under the swinging light.Β That scene is pure horror movie perfection.Β Great acting, good camera work, dramatic lighting, love it.

I actually saw Bride of Re-Animator a night earlier and really liked it. That's what made me watch Re-Animator when I saw that was being repeated the next night. A strange order to see it, since a lot is given away in the sequel... but seeing it in that order made me realise how unfortunate Dan was with just how much he would have to still endure, all from just letting West rent a room.
I really like both. Can't even put my finger on it, but it all just works so well. Good acting, likeable characters, not knowing what is going to happen.

For a horror flick it really does just have a certain 'something' that makes it great, and you're right it's kind of hard to pin point exactly what makes it good when so many others like it are just painful to watch.Β The actor that played Dan never really went on to do much, but West (Jeffrey Combs) is kind of legendary and I've seen most of his work (not all of it great, but most of it is a lot of fun).Β A lot of his stuff is hard to find now a days since it was mostly on VHS and hasn't always made it over to digital format for easy watch.
He's great in Beyond Re-Animator you can see he's having fun with the role, but the supporting cast is only so-so and the movie ends with a disembodied zombie penis fighting a souless rat...which is a little over the top, but I guess that was the point.
For another fun older horror flick check out Bruce Campbell in Evil Dead 2 (no need to see Evil Dead 1).

I remember the 1st Evil Dead fairly well. But I only ever saw the 2nd one once... so can't remember it very well. My memory of it is so fuzzy it's even blurring a bit with my memories of the PS1/Dreamcast Evil Dead game.
I do want to seeΒ Beyond Re-Animator after enjoying the first 2 movies. Hopefully it'll find it's way onto TV here or Netflix. Until then though, it's cool to still have something ofΒ Re-Animator to look forward to.
