In the Academic Sense of the Anthropological Sciences, Gender refers to the cultural conceptions which are associated with the perception of roles associated with sex. Menstruation is a issue pertaining to Sex and the notion that women must wear skirts is an idea associated with Gender. Ideas of gender vary from culture to culture and period to period. For example, in the year 1750 Noblemen would often wear bright colors, lace, makeup and would be open with crying. Napoleon Bonaparte read to his men "The Sorrows of Young Werther" on campaign, a book about a young man who is in love with an unattainable married woman and his thoughts on the matter until he commits suicide, and they respected him for it. In numerous other cultures there have been "third genders" identified by anthropologists including the Hijra and Two Spirits in numerous cultures which conform to neither male nor female roles.
There is no conflict between these two points.

Neither of these contradict each other. Non binary people exist, and scientific understanding of how the human brain contradicts popular cultural assumptions about gender. Both of these are true, they only become not true if you assume scientific knowledge invalidates cultural constructs of gender and non-binary people at the same time. I understand I'm probably talking to a brick wall, but whatever.

"popular cultural assumptions about gender" ≠ gender
That's not what gender is. And that's also not how gender is defined when people speak of nonbinary genders. You're using one definition of gender when speaking of binary genders, and then using an entirely different definition when speaking of nonbinary genders. This is a fundamental fallacy.
You don't get it, do you? Nonbinary genders cannot exist without gender. If gender is a social construct, then that means nonbinary genders must logically be social constructs as well. There is no way around this. It's basic propositional logic. If you have a bone to pick with mathematics, then maybe you should take it up with nature for being sexist.
"I understand I'm probably talking to a brick wall, but whatever."
This is just your way of providing yourself with insurance that you will win the argument. If I don't contradict you, you have the satisfaction of being right. If I do contradict you, you can say "See? I told you you wouldn't be convinced. I'm fighting a wall, hurrr durrr!"

" "popular cultural assumptions about gender" ≠ gender
That's not what gender is." Uh, yes it is. Every culture on earth has different ideas, definitions, roles, ect. for gender. The popular assumptions around gendered professions, fashion, education, media, ect. in Palestine are far different from the ones in Thailand, which are far different from the ones in Sweden.
" You're using one definition of gender when speaking of binary genders, and then using an entirely different definition when speaking of nonbinary genders." What? No I'm not. Science around gender that demonstrates what's biological from what's cultural analyzes both binary and nonbinary expression in unified terms.
"Nonbinary genders cannot exist without gender. If gender is a social construct, then that means nonbinary genders must logically be social constructs as well." Someone here doesnt 'get it' alright. When people speak of gender being a social construct, they arent talking about identity or expression, they're talking about gender roles and ideals. Take fashion for example; gender expression is liking a dress, gender as a social construct is old standards that dictates which bodies dresses are and arent made for. See the difference? This meme was made by conflating gender identity and expression (organic aspects of people and how they function) with gender roles and ideals (cultural standards enforced via law, business practices, religious tradition, ect.), which arent even close to the same thing.
"This is just your way of providing yourself with insurance that you will win the argument." Honey, you made this condescending meme on assumptions based on zero reading or understanding of what people actually say. You lost the argument the moment you posted this bland shit-smear of a pic.

First paragraph is a non sequitur and is objectively false. Personality is not gender. And the fact that male and female genders have existed in literally every culture in the history of humanity should make it clear that they're part of nature.
Second paragraph: Restate your position without providing any supporting arguments. Typical SJW debate style.
No, gender is not "old standards that dictate which bodies dresses are made for". That's gender expectations. Gender is whether you identify as male or female. Do you have a male brain or a female brain? It's as simple as that.
"Honey,"
That word reveals everything I ever needed to know about your psychology and what kind of person you are. You clearly cannot be reasoned with and you are so deeply convinced of the intellectual superiority of your position that you are unwilling to even consider any alternative viewpoints. Blocked.

So any expression of an opinion is "being deeply convinced of your own intellectual superiority" now? Okay.
