Description
Imprisoned in the dungeons of Angband during an important reconnaissance mission, I methodically plan my escape. As the dungeon guards have their backs turned, I seize the opportunity to conjure up some spells. Good thing I am properly dressed for magick. As a high druid of the Skyclad Warriors, I must return to the leaders of my order and deliver to them the vital information I have claimed. These guards are dumb, brutish men, incapable of comprehending the more sublime things in life. They may outnumber me, but I am confident my wits and cleverness and understanding of magick will easily overpower them and allow me to escape.This is a work in progress. The lighting is kinda off and I don't know how to get it right. I've tried several methods of creating reflected light in GIMP, including the dodge/burn tool, reversing the luma, etc. All of these ended up messing it up. Any advice?

My guards are trained to read the specs of their prisoners. People knowledgeable in C will get handcuffed and blindfolded and nothing even remotely usable for picking or shimming will remain in their vicinity.

I think a layer overlay might work better. Make a new layer, take a color like a pale yellow white and with a bit soft brush add the lighting in the direction you want it coming from. Turn the layer onto either overlay, screen, or anything like that. Just go through the layer options until something looks right, also play with the opacity of the new layer.
The same can be done for shadows on a separate layer, but you will also have to paint the shadows on the body as well.
If it's a dungeon, maybe blend over the door hinges and overlay a stone texture on the walls. Sneak a rat or two in there with some straw on the floor.
