Cross-eye 3-D

You wake up...

If I've done this right - that is all you should need to know... Well, that and some viewing tips, which are below.

As I've mentioned before, from the beginning (almost 3 years ago) I've seen this as a 3-D project; that it would be too visually complex in traditional 2-D. For the first version to share, I've chosen this "wide" cross-eye 3-D version. This might be too much eye crossing for some, but I've got a number of different versions coming soon, including a traditional 2-D version.

Viewing Tips
This "wide" version of the cross-eye 3-D requires more eye crossing than some, but it allows the viewer to see the full view, in 3-D. I recommend:

Full screen, dark room, stable situation (e.g., sitting)

Headphones are recommended as the audio is mixed for that, loud is good

Before starting the video, cross your eyes until the two "X"'s merge. Hold that until it feels stable.

When ready, start the video and try to hold your view on the same spot

If at any time. you feel pain, or dizziness or anything else unpleasant. please just stop - there will be other versions that are easier to view, soon.

I'm glad to be finishing this up - it's a been a joy to work on, mostly. For me, the idea of being able to tell a story, however simple and short, with images and sounds was the plan. The various ideas for how to do that via the different displays, sounds, etc. became the on-going challenge. Basically, a simple idea that got out of hand.

There is admittedly a LOT going on in here. The various displays (some of which are also 3-D) are pretty much synchronized, as are the sounds. There are no sounds that are not associated with something on screen (which includes the 12 vertical bars in the left display). I would hope that at least a few folks might want to watch more than once just to catch more of what's going on.

Everything was rendered in Poser 11.2 using SuperFly. Speaking of rendering, most of it was done by my new Latvian friend, Oskars at RenderSpell. renderspell.com The process went amazingly well.

The "floor" is a pattern I found on the Internet and there are a few other items like the Poser stock Grey Alien, etc.

Most of the rest is the result of some python programming on my part for the dome, the displays, the transitional morph objects, synchronized sounds, etc.

There will be more coming in the next few days.

BTW: does anybody know how to upload an alternate thumbnail for a video? The first 3 seconds of this black, and that's where the thumbnail is coming from.
