Description
'Tis the season to be jolly, or goofy, or silly or some such thing. Spent a couple of hours on Sunday exploring a possible story option - assuming I someday finish the current project - getting closer every day...
I mostly wanted to test out a couple of ideas about the characters and clothing. I just used this set because it's readily available to me these days. Mostly I posted it because it looks so goofy.

Thanks. I might try selling them on E-bay - could be the next big trend in fashion.

Most excellent dude!
I does love me some skinned OBJs
Plus, you do realise that with some much going on the finished animation will be >>> <<< .... You gonna' have to include a Consent Form to view it (else you be liable for damages)!

Thanks dude!
Well luckily, these particular shenanigans won't be in the upcoming 2-minut-movie. We'll save this stuff for later. Hopefully the first one will strengthen, rather than blow most minds... Then they'll all be ready for ... what?
I think.

Well... not sure I'd call it a feature - but at least it's weird!

OK. Now that's just nasty!
Do you have a character parented to the alien in the transmogrifier that you somehow clothified? Anyway, I love it.

So the alien itself is a bit different from the others - but at this stage, pretty much just a different color and different eyes. What I did was have it in a basically human form, then I created a body suit by creating an object that included basically everything except head, hands and feet. I then used a little python program I wrote a while back to expand it outward slightly, and reimported that - giving it the textures of the alien suit. Then I clothified it and ran a cloth simulation where the character wearing the body suite reverted to alien form in about 100 frames, while still wearing the body suit - which largely retained its shape.
Don't worry - I don't plan to use this, but I am playing with a scene where a human looking character, wearing normal clothes gets changed into an alien and the clothes just sort of do what they will.
Hopefully it's a good nasty.

Heh. Thanks for explaining how you did it... the part I'd have to figure out how to do differently is the Python part... I have no idea how to write scripts.
As for the kind of nasty? It's the excellent kind!

I think there are any number of tools to expand an object - but I can just post my little blowup.py python script if you want.
Thanks for the nasty clarification.
