Mythical subjects aren't terribly original unless they somehow revise the concept and make it relevant and rescue it from being an anachronism. This does this excellently by ingenious composition that is subtle in its use of this fortunate setting that is just what a theme like this requires! The model herself is in the typical style and pose of the NeoClassical period and the light emphasizes the sensuality of the figure without being flamboyant or extravagant. For myself, when a picture actually evokes music when I look at it is a sign that something special is going on here. I look at this and hear Debussy and Satie. What makes this especially moving and worthy of submission to art contests is the ingenious composition. The pose may not suggest drama and dynamism, two buzz words I like to use and look for in figure studies, but taking it off center and to the foreground does wonders! Normally, most photographers, myself included, would be terribly tempted to anal-rententively center the muse as much as possible in the frame. The vine roots enmeshing the tree limb suggest an actual path the nature spirits would devise or use and the angling of perspective creates the illusion of movement and activity that is not noticed at first but sucks the viewer in to experience the sublime beauty of the entire scene. I could effortlessly imagine the dryad-like muse here having walked into this forest from her fairie realm along the receding limb in the upper left corner. I am sorely tempted to request this as a print, it's that good! Kudos to both you and the muse! e.deviantart.net/emoticons/c/c… " width="20" height="20" alt="" title="Clap"/>

The pose coneys an exceptional degree of gracefulness. And the photography is exceptional! I love the light and shadow. Also, the way the figure almost disappears is really interesting. I'm adding this to my "Favorite Among Favorites" collection.

Again, the model's idea.Ā  I thought she was crazy, but I went along with it.

Thanks! The B&W version seems to be the more popular. I can't say I disagree. I personally really can't decide. I like both versions.

Have you ever read "Eve's Diary" by Mark Twain? I often imagine Eve doing fun and innocent things like climbing trees.

is that real cobweb? It looks far too thick and coarse, how big are the spiders? Hoe brave is the model to stand there? LOL
Sorry to be so distracted by the setting but I have never seen such cobwebs
