Description
My company is porting our mobile tactics game, Auro, to PC. The game will be converted to landscape, so I had to make a pixel art landscape illustration. This took....way. Way too long. But I hope you find the end result to be worth it.
Adobe Photoshop
approx. 45 colors.

Yay, I'm so glad there will be a PC version. This title screen is great, very subtle dithering in the water is perfect, I'm glad you didn't go crazy with it all over the image like some guys do.
Image is a bit too blue for my taste but that's not bad thing considering total color count. And this curved perspective is very appealing it adds more dynamic to the scene, I'm very interested to found out how did you draw base for it. Probably more than few vanishing points?
Like I've said some time ago your art is precious.

Thanks! Yeah, the blues are there to make it atmospheric. It's in an underwater cave-like setting. The water/light source is influencing a lot of the image. It may be a little overrepresented, but the blue in this case functions as a neutral. Yellow is primary, pink/purple is a secondary, and blue is a neutral.
The terrain perspective was made with a little help. I made a crude 3d model of a hex grid plane warped into a dome, then I hand drew over it. That part was a massive pain.
So glad you like the work.
