Description

-12 bones from Damien

RP Status: OPEN
Location: Curently between Vale and Fellfang

Name:
 Isaac
    Meaning: "He who laughs"
        Nickname(s): Shepherd, Big Brother
Age: Adult (8 years)

Gender: Male
Height: 35''
Weight: 112 lbs

Build: When first meeting Isaac, one may mistake his size for that of a small bear. His fur is thick and burly, made for the north. At one point in time it may have settled neatly on his shoulder but instead it rumples up around him, wild and unkempt. `His body is broad, face set with heavy lines and ears sharp at the ends. Small grooves are present at the corners of his eyes, one of the only signs of his age- that and the littering of small, silver hairs on the darkest parts of his body. He is built for the take down, but not for the chase.
Scent: Wildflowers and a hint of pine.

Territory: N/A
    Current location:
Family: Gregor  (father) | Lyn  (sister)
NPC: Chandra (mother) | August (brother) | Elia (sister)
Rank: Loner

Personality:

+: Collected | Honest

  • Collected: At first glance Isaac may come off as strong or brooding, but really he's just very selective about what he will and won't say. Years of growing up around pups and those younger than him have taught him to be careful with his words, and he takes great pride in being able to sooth when there is hurt. He doesn't sugarcoat his words more than needed, but Isaac also knows when his temper is unjust.
  • Honest: Isaac doesn't consider himself to be a particularly strong liar. His mother would catch him lying quite often, so the young boy began to shed his skin in that aspect and turned to be more blunt with his answers as far as he's concerned. He dislikes his evasive nature, but to him it's better than spinning a false story.
0: Spiritual | Selfless
  • Spiritual: With Chandra raising him each step of the way, Isaac has a strong sense of direction with things outside of his world. While he tries to rely on no one physical to keep him sound, higher powers are Isaac's first turning point if he's ever down on his luck or in the deep end of the water. He may not openly discuss his dedication to the teachings Chandra had, but he keeps them close to his heart where they're least likely to slip away.
  • Selfless: Throughout all his life Isaac had done everything for the sake of his family. From sacrificing his time to giving up his meal, to losing sleep or losing love, Isaac has spared nothing for his family. His mother in particular is one wolf Isaac let himself sink his whole heart into, and with her death his selfless nature turned more callused and selfish. He'll still push his own feelings aside to protect others from himself, but he no longer has the will to keep on fighting for family. Not unless Gregor or Lyn are out there waiting for him to come home.
-: Noncommital | Evasive | Jaded
  • Noncommital: After the events of Elia's death, Isaac fears that he will become his father. It was a growing fear over the course of watching children come and go between Chandra and Gregor, but the longer he waited for Gregor to return to his normal self, the more his heart clenched at the thought of losing his spirit for falling in love and breaking at the fallout. He does not want romance if it means heartache, and Isaac will push aside his attraction in hopes that it will leave him alone and crawl back from where it came.
  • Evasive: Isaac dislikes talking about his life. It's not that he doesn't have genuine pride for how he was raised, but there are many parts of his history that are still a raw wound on his barely healed mind. Isaac holds many regrets close to him about what he hadn't done, and his anger for Gregor's actions early on in his childhood haunt him from feeling comfortable. He secretly misses the days Chandra would comfort him in his sleep, but he would sooner throw himself into a frozen lake than see Lyn cry because Gregor couldn't comfort her the way she needed.
  • Jaded: While open minded with many things, Isaac is harsh on his views with how a family should function. He took his own siblings under his wing when it all turned to hell, and while he would never replace the feeling, he wished that their childhood had been more fruitful than what was offered. Isaac is not shy to speak up about how he feels on the topic, though he will do so in a manor that is one part earnest and another part childish. Perhaps a part of him too longs for something he never had.

Pre-Group History:
Isaac, the first born son of Gregor and Chandra in the old pack Kausen. From the moment his little body shuddered its first breath, Isaac had the weight of the world resting on his shoulders.

In a litter of three Isaac awoke. He had two siblings: his brother August, and his sister Elia. His father was the first face he had truly seen, the soft grizzled look of the Alpha- Gregor- beside his mother who groomed the three of them sweetly with the gentleness of someone who had never held anything so precious. It was immediate, the bond with his family, and the young Isaac found himself stumbling in his earliest days for his father's affection and his mother's approval. Though Elia was their focus, for her frame was so small that he could cradle around it as though he were twice her size. It stayed like this for weeks and weeks, but the little girl Isaac found comfort in as his sister seemed to be fine. She would smile and laugh, eat, play. Perhaps a little less than them, a little more carefully, but she was okay. And when she didn't feel well, Isaac would lure August away to spend time with him so Gregor could care for their sister.

The one afternoon he'd returned, however, Elia was limp in their father's hold, and his warm face seemed to twist into a broken sadness that Isaac had never really seen before. Not on any of them.

It was quick. They were born and she was gone, and the time that lapsed from her death to he and his brother's yearing, his parents still mourned over the loss. Isaac had spent the better half of that year trying everything he could to soak up some sort of comfort from Gregor, but each time he toyed like a child would, Gregor would simply look at him with a distant gaze and a cautionary smile. Like he was too scared to break something else if he so much as touched it wrong. It gnawed a pool of worry into the young boy, and in his distress he turned more towards his mother than he would have thought.

August had left Kausen soon after Isaac and Chandra took to one another, and Isaac promised his brother a home had he ever the need for it. August asked him to leave, so they could stay together, but Isaac spoke that he needed to stay for Chandra- if nothing else. So he'd spent more time with his mother as seasons passed, he and Chandra speaking often of religion for Isaac found security in believing something greater than himself was out there. Something that caused bad things to happen, like his sister's death and his father's distance. That it wasn't without reason. He believed it, he did, and he hoped that the future held better things for them.

Except when the second litter was born upon his own second year, Gregor was distant from them too. Loving like a father should be, but he carried himself so stiffly and vacantly that Isaac's growing mind took it as a lack of love. It angered him, upset him, spun something sad and ugly in his chest that grew and grew even with his mother's words softening the blows his own heart had to offer. It all felt so rushed, so foreign, and the boy found himself waking up to a third litter some years later. He had stayed for his mother in hopes that she would fix Gregor. That his father would be a father they so desperately needed. But he wasn't, not in the same way he was when Elia had first opened her eyes and cried at him to hold her. But the third litter had Lyn, and Lyn was important to all of them.

She was small and he was roughly three times her age, but Isaac found himself caring for her at a distance with words of praise and happiness along with their other siblings. Those from the second litter that stayed had stayed with him, and he often carried their emotions and thoughts like a banner over his head as the days seemed to fall more and more silent the older the third litter got. He had been training himself as all boys did to be a leader, the big brother everyone could look up to. And he thought he was doing well, succeeding in making his mother and father proud, that everything was going to be fine with Lyn in their life. But Gregor was still distant with the girl, moreso than the boys. He could note the way Lyn's face would contort in Chandra's direction when Gregor didn't respond to her calls, and Isaac wanted to say something. To tell his father it was time to move on. But Chandra told him otherwise, asked him so gently to give Gregor the time he needed. And as her only remaining son from the first litter, as the eldest child, Isaac bit back his pride and let his father continue with the sulking. For his mother's sake he would do it, and he would stay with her through it.

But then Lyn was half a year, and Chandra passed away. Killed. A failed hunt. Isaac had not been there the day it had happened for he had promised his mother to watch who was left in the pack while the third litter went out on their hunt with her, but the guilt of not being there for her in her last moments haunts him. He was five when his pride for Kausen broke, and the only wolf keeping him in the pack was dead. His father's misery had soaked up the last of what patience he had, and between the mourning and sad songs that filtered through the air for many days and nights passing, Isaac had gathered what siblings he could to leave.

Lyn had not gone with him. He had asked, wanted to beg, but Lyn wanted to stay behind. For Gregor.

So Isaac left with several siblings at his heels, his body their guide through the nights that followed them beyond their walls in Kausen. He was, in a sense, their alpha. The eldest son. And when one of them was hurt, he was hurt. When one fell ill, he fell ill. Isaac had promised to keep them safe for as long as he could, and each time he seemed to fail his emotions got the better of him. August had found him then a year later, alone and away from the pack. It was a shock to both of them, but the joy he'd felt for seeing his brother was enough to put the eldest's heart as ease for just a little while. August joined him and the other no-longer children, and they traveled as far and as long as their legs could carry them.

By the time he was seven, Isaac had a sluggish nature from the times he had put himself before the others, his body their shield and them his banner. Gray hairs began to sprout along the darkest parts of his body, a reminder of his stress, his frustrations and childish heartaches, his lack of love for anyone outside of his family. When it came time to let someone else lead the pack onwards, Isaac had let his own shield topple. He was too tired to keep on going, and while the siblings seemed to understand, he couldn't bare to see their faces when he turned away from them. Commitment, he decided then, was not worth the heaviness he held in his chest for seven years straight. Sooner or later they all had to part paths and it was easier for the greying wolf to harden his heart before it hurt too much.

Isaac traveled alone then for a year, his once clean frame turning rugged and tired with the life of a loner. He was sluggish but would hunt, tired but would walk, and if nothing else he was hopeless but would dream.

Now, eight years of age, Isaac returns to the place he once called home. Kausen is nowhere in sight, the lands have shifted and there seemed to be more than he had ever seen. Isaac prays that somewhere, anywhere, he'll find at least one thing worth fighting for- and he'll stop running from his fears.

Other:
  • Voice:
  • Playlist:
    • Themesong:
  • Quirks:
    • Isaac has trouble sleeping alone due to his years with nothing but family at his side. He won't mention this, however, to anyone.
    • He has no idea that Kausen and Blutwald are gone- nor does he know that Lyn is dead and Gregor is not an alpha.
    • While he doesn't limp, Isaac walks much slower than most wolves. Maybe from past injuries, or maybe he's just too tired to quicken his pace.
