At first glance, one would automatically assume that Tallow has a surly temperament through and through. While they wouldn't be wrong, that is only half of the truth for the young male. He's cold and defiant towards stangers and those of the Empire due to the rumors that circulate it, but Tallow is bright eyed and curious about his new surroundings beyond the walls and claws of the sixty-strong pack. He's highly adventurous on his own terms, often mulling over different paths and recollecting his thoughts about the days prior in order to further move on and track down those who went missing. It causes him to be overly analytical of small details, sometimes to the point that he obsesses over things that are out of place or in inordinary spots; this only pertains to physical objects, as one's appearance rarely phases him. However, Tallow is compulsive about his grooming, the idea of becoming a rat's nest out in the wilds beyond the ruins of his former pack causing him some underlying stress. He is proud of his coat, but will not boast about it, and he harbors a slight bit of frustration for the scar that riddles his head, thinking it detracts from his character since it was a foolish injury and not one hard won. Despite his quirks, Tallow sticks to a plan once his mind is made up, causing him to be quite bullish without meaning so.

He's slightly oblivious towards other's emotions since he'd spent so much time working to tamp out his own, and his mouth runs faster than his head. He may sometimes say things he doesn't mean out of shock or out of disinterest, but he actively tries to recognize his mistakes in order to not become another empty shell that he views Imperial wolves of being. This causes Tallow to cling to interesting facts about a location or person, and he may often repeat them several times as to not forget. Tallow copes with his newfound solitary life by speaking to himself, and he has yet to recognize that it may make some wolves uncomfortable.

Despite his rough realizations of the world he once knew, Tallow is trying to change himself for the better, but his hot-headedness and critical eye of others makes it difficult to adjust appropriately to his new elements. He desires to make up for his mistakes as a gladiator and to make amends with those who he can find that broke away from the before he did. Tallow no longer wants fame or glory in his name, and instead he hopes to break down his mental barriers and make new connections that will lead him to what he's lost. Underneath his rough exterior, Tallow is a dreamer.

However, he knows that the outside world is not all golden. If anything, Tallow fears what the world beyond the old pack holds, still believing that there is only order under the tyrannical rule- despite how much misery it brings with. He is wary of the future as not knowing what's around the corner brings back a child-like sense of dread, akin to those of a puppy having a nightmare. It causes him to be restless at night, something that wears on him quite heavily and leaves him walking long hours in the dark, and resting somewhere secluded during the day. Despite his hope, Tallow is tired, and he isn't quite sure if he will live long enough to see the light on the other side of all the chaos.

Once a proud member of a distant gladiator-type pack, Tallow's story and fall from grace was birthed by his decision to leave once news came of his former friend's disappearance.

At one point in time, Tallow was nothing more than a fighter. He was warped, diluted of all personal opinion due to the influence of his training as a gladiator during his younger years. Obediant and skilled in critical thinking, he had a small name for himself in between his cluster of companions. Namely, a hunter who had caught his eye from the moment they had met. His desire to impress his peers mostly evolved due to one individual, a deep-rooted secret in which Tallow did his damnedest to keep hidden. He viewed his soft spot for the hunter as a weakness, an uninvited influence in which he wanted no part of. It was a mistake to be drawn to the wolf in the first place, and Tallow knew that his career depended on results in work and physical strength-- not romance. However, it didn't keep the aspiring gladiator from doing what he could to get the spotlight of the wolves he kept in his circle.

At the very least he could enjoy the attention while it lasted.

That sort of behavior was unraveled from Tallow as time went on. His sly, mischevious side was slowly replaced by harsh cynisism of those around him. He was an embelished warrior essentially, and his emotional response to those he once kept close began to dither away until he was tempered and critical of their jokes and stories. It was a coping mechanism to not get too close, as the number one motto he'd heard so many times was: "Do not become friends with those you may one day fight in the ring." Fearful, perhaps, Tallow had made the decision to prevent himself from getting hurt by cutting off social ties the moment he'd put a foot in the den of the arena and he paid for it. The one he'd had his eyes on didn't take long to notice the change in him, and their attempts to salvage whatever good nature Tallow had left was met with spitting teeth and sharp words, idle threats. A mistake.

Tallow had pushed himself away from the small circle, and eventually the seams had burst; the Empire had come for the pack after they strayed too close to the borders during their migration after a harsh rain season that flooded out the territory. Those who opposed it scattered or were hunted down. He had been forced to watch his old companions flee or become captured before ultimately being dragged away by several of the ring fighters to save their own skin.

Riddled with guilt, the ex-gladiator had little choice but to remain with the small vagabonds as they made distance between themselves and the site of the ambush. A month had passed before the lack of leadership took hold of the escapists. Their party of five, with Tallow included, began fighting over small issues. It drove a rift in between the survivors and eventually no one slept with their eyes closed. It was this fighting that made Tallow realize he needed to leave. He needed to find the hunting party that went missing and see if any of them survived; perhaps they made it out, relocated somewhere new?

Tallow concocted a method of escape so the survivors wouldn't come looking for him, as they were prone to do due to their fear of being left. Originally he'd only wanted to pose himself as severely injured and on the verge of death, but the plan went south due to heavy rains and slick terrain; his set up, already in a treacherous spot, had been washed out in the midst of Tallow finishing the scene. He, along with his placed evidence were washed down river and far beyond the vagabond's roost. He'd awoken washed ashore with deep rooted pain in his head and dancing spots in his eyes, but alive. It took three days of recovery before Tallow had enough energy to disappear from the spot, but it was still too much time wasted.

He changed his name in hopes of throwing off strangers of these foreign lands lest someone learned of his old life, praying that none would recognize him from what came before.

Now, roughly one month after the incident [and two months after the ambush], Tallow is far from his original course. He is lost, recovered from injury, but he has no idea what it means to function alone. Part of him believes he deserves this, but the other half hopes this means he has a better chance at finding the missing wolves- or at least, whatever might remain of them.
