Description
one of my most desired pelts arrived yesterday <: she's a little babe!the picture doesn't do her justice, though. she has lovely browns and blacks mixed within her fur, and a small white patch on her chest.
super soft too!
i might reshape the face at some point one i can afford a headform so her ears and nose are a bit better, but honestly i love how she looks.
she's not mountable, bone in feet and not enough lip i don't think. along with part of her groin cut away and an enlarged eye.
she's a bit smaller than judas!

Taxidermy is such an interesting thing to me. I think its another form of art so I wanna explore it/learn about it! How does one get the skins of the creatures they want to stuff/mount (I have no clue what it's called) and when you finish what is the purpose? Like anatomy study or posing for pictures?

Aah it really is! I started collecting around 3 years ago now.
Deviantart is a really good place to start as far as looking for pelts! Generally you can find taxidermy
specific groups (the-chop-shop, for example) that has a lot of hand me downs or previously owned pelts.
I personally bought a lot of mine from GlacierWear which accepts both paypal and debit/credit cards.
Moscow Hide & Fur is another really good quality site if you're looking for mountable pelts, but they're on
the more expensive end.
Most of my pelts are for inspiration or reference since I tend to like manipulating the fur/posing the pelts and
things to see how the fur lays/the body moves. My one fox is articulated so he's really good for posing for
references, and generally they're gorgeous pieces to keep around since it's better than letting them rot/have
no use after the animal is killed. Plus inn a pinch you can sell them here on dA and most of the time someone
will come along and purchase it, so it's a good little investment if you ever need quick money down the line!
As far as actually mounting them, I'd definitely take a gander at FrontierFurs work since I've been watching
them for quite awhile and they've got some really useful info and generally gorgeous mounts! Otherwise just
keep your eyes peeled for groups selling things if you want to own one!
