i'll submit this to DotW once i go to submit ruffian (and if he's accepted, hopefully!)
for this month's MSE

after the fire, ruffian's first goal was to find water. when he did, though, he couldn't believe the sight.
having not seen himself at all during his childhood besides fleeting glimpses in between his work and leisure time, the two years he spent locked up in alto territory left him with no true memory of how he looked.
so ruffian, distraught and truly free for what was the first time in his life, broke the water's reflection in hopes of never needing to see his face again.
but instead the wound soothed over, and the panicked wolf found some form of comfort.

to this day he still believes he is not handsome, and he'll often refuse to look at his own reflection because of it.
