Personality
Life is grueling and hurts a lot. ...hm? Do I wish to add more? No, that is all.
| Silent/Blunt | Gigi does not like to talk much, this is a given. It reaches a point where she could go days without uttering a single peep! But when she does speak, she is efficient and gets straight to the point, if to avoid the fattening fluff of idle chatter. Sometimes this straight-talk attitude lands her in hot water, as not everypony is happy to hear this raw honesty, and she's missed a lot of business opportunities by not forming business relationships with ponies who thrive on knowing the pony behind the goods being traded. But, like this matters to her anyway--she mostly just wishes they'd shut up and tell her how much they'd pay for a pound of sapphires.

| Aloof/Clingy | It's no secret Gigi is a pretty cold and distant pony--in all her years wandering Equestria to find her fortune, she never once made a friend or traveled with anypony other than herself. And, yes, it's a trust thing--her own brother took credit for and profited from her discovery of a rich gold vein many years ago. And if her own brother would do something so heinous, surely everypony else (i.e. strangers) wouldn't hesitate to do the same. So she keeps her distance and her secrets, burdening her work alone if only to finally have her break. But, in the rare event you are able to slip behind her heavily-fortified walls, you will find a loyal companion who will also never let you go. And, yes, literally--Gigi has a tendency to do anything/everything for those she trusts, often getting herself over-burdened and hurt physically in the process. Is it wrong to want to protect somepony you care for from the imminent danger of everyday life, therefore sparing them from an early demise? No, no it is not.

| Lucky/Greedy | A long time ago, her father once prophesied (and by 'prophesied,' I mean shouted to the world without evidence) that she would be the one to achieve greatness in their poor mining family. And, if not for outside forces working against her, this would be true--Gigi has had some astounding luck in finding hoards of gemstones, mineral deposits and various ore veins to harvest at her leisure. Despite most of her efforts to keep mum about her findings and ensure nopony else knows, somehow it all falls apart one way or another. It's not because she is naive or gullible or anything else--it's always just something beyond her scope of control (What do you mean this is within bounds of a national park? I will not damage much--only this one side of the mountain. ...no? Hmph, hippies...). And when she does get her hooves on something she can keep, she doesn't let go, hoarding all her goodies and finds away someplace not even Kyanite knows where. I stand to argue it's quite a hoard...perhaps even enough for that fortune she so desperately wants.

| Resilient/Reckless | For somepony her size, Gigi packs a lot of strength and willpower--both physically and mentally. She is relentless in her tasks, seeing them through each time with quality. When she falls, she gets right back up again and marches forward. Some believe it's out of spite to prove to her family (who always saw her as a weak little thing, on account of her premature birth and small size) she can do great things, some believe it's to prove to everypony on the planet she can do great things. Whatever the case, she has toughed-out some bitter cold nights and scorching hot days, if only to achieve her goal. But, not every task comes to quick and easy--with each failure, Gigi's frustration increases along with her desperation to complete the task and prove herself. She believes in risks for success, but most of her 'risks' are actually reckless acts in disguise. It takes somepony close to her to reel her back in and to open her eyes to what she's doing.

Gigi comes from a rich line of poor miners...and jewelers. It's a feud as far back as anypony can remember (including the most ancient of grandparents), and does not seem to be ever letting up. The jewelers are the wealthy of the two, taking the raw materials and turning them into beautiful pieces for an astounding profit that is largely un-shared with the mining half of the family. And while the wage-war is still raging and pay is getting better each generation, bitter reservations still exist and neither speak kindly of the other.

Ancient history aside, Gigi was born to a Garnet and Onyx Geode a few months before she should have on a cold spring day. Onyx took this as an omen, declaring that her unusual birth deemed her a future of greatness, something he loved to preach in front of his other impressionable kids. Not that she knew anything of it--she was merely a small infant, after all, so deeply in love with her Mommy and Daddy and the other small ponies who play with her sometimes. For the family, these years where Gigi was an infant were some of their best, and Onyx's preaching became tolerable. But, then, Garnet got sick. Really sick.

It wasn't that much of a sudden event--she had always had a cough from her coal mining career, always had a bit of trouble breathing and catching her breath. But then the little things all culminated to a fatal case of lung disease, and Garnet was dead. Gigi was two at the time, and since then, her smiles stopped and she no longer wished to be called by her Mommy's nickname--Gigi. The family eventually recovered from the tragedy, but there is still a part of Onyx that grieves and blames others, still a part of Gigi that misses and cries, still a part of Kyanite who also misses, and still a part of Pyrite that blames Gigi. He never liked her from the start, and he wasn't about to change his tune.

Fast-forward to her tween years, with Gigi proving her prowess in mining and the like. It didn't take long for Gigi to find a substantial gold vein which she meticulously began to mine near their home. Finally she could complete the Geode Tradition, where each Geode kid is tasked with finding a small or large fortune to prove their worth as a prospector. What she did not realize, however, is that somepony else knew about it and was intent on taking it for their own. And his name is Pyrite, the one Gigi loathes the most. He took credit for the vein and all of its contents before Gigi had any chance to fight back, stealing her fortune and her rightful glory. And while she could still go out to find another, this betrayal was never forgotten or forgiven, and any mention of Pyrite is often responded to with a scoff and a question asking who it is.

Not long after this betrayal, Gigi left home, taking to the road with her lucky pick-axe and saddlebags to make her fortune. All throughout her teen and early twenties, this was her life--drifting, mining, finding the occasional vein to earn enough to relax for a while. Never once did she contact her family or visit them--she kept her distance and they kept theirs. Kyanite always searched, though--he wasn't about to give up on his baby sister out and alone in the world.

Eventually Gigi found herself in the old mining town of Dappleton, and was taken by not only how it was built solely on her talent, but also how nopony was mining there anymore. There is where she resides, searching the old tunnels for new finds and avoiding her brother, Kyanite, who moved in with her as much as possible. Mining alone always does the trick.
