Y'know, the Egyptians were known for their dye mead, which actually had the trait of coloring the blood. It was because of the tinted acohol, so, when it got into your blood stream, it would change the color of your skin. They mostly used blue and green, to honor the sun and the earth, but purple hues were not unheard of. The coloring was temporary, and would wear off at the same rate as drunkenness (since it was literally the acohol that was tinting the skin).
Unfortunately, the dye process is only done by hardcore Egyptologists nowadays. So, I applaud your effort to recognize such a beautiful civilization.
