Description
What have I learned in this study...Towards the horizon, the bottom plane of cumulus clouds are heavily foreshortened and those clouds as a whole are very light in value. Ones that are 'closer' are higher from our perspective, and become darker as the bottom plane starts to take over

Beautiful piece of work. I've tried designing clouds, and yes, the normal way of doing it has been to draw clouds I see in the sky. I have also found out it to be a good way of designing the shapes of landmasses when I draw worlds for my fantasy stories. A friend of mine is also making some pixel stuff for a game, but it has been a while.

I just wanted to say that these studies are amazing. I don't really have any constructive criticism to offer, besides maybe that'd be really interesting to see you do some non-pixel stuff.

If you were to see me try that, expect me to not have a damn clue on how to blend.

This is looking pretty and all, but I find it hard to imagine it in a context of bigger works. The piece is looking great though. I don't understand much of the technical stuff as I'm sure you know. But I should be able to decide what I like to gaze upon.
Still, it looks far too realistic to be put in an ordinary pixel-game or a portrait. Is there a branch of pixel art that often do these kinda scenery pictures? If so I haven't seen them.

It's a study. I took a reference photo and applied what I see into a pixel art image. It's to learn cloud size, shape, and shadowing in relation to how high it is in the sky and how close it is to you. It's to make more believable landscapes later on (like say.... the backgrounds I see on Terraria)

can you show your process for this? I really love pixel art but I'm SO BAD at it XP
