Doodled this a while back, but never got around to uploading it here. Anyhoo, it's based upon a conversation I had with a friend, who decided that 'Oolong' is his favourite new word after hearing it for the first time...Tumblr: [link]

You'd get on with my brother - he really likes Star Trek (except for the recent films... with particular attention to the latest!); I was always more of a casual viewer.Β

Well, I haven't actually watched a hell of a lot of the old series (few episodes here and there when I was growing up, I still love Shatner's over-acting) and I do actually like the new movies, so maybe we wouldn't get along... haha.

I was the same. I remember watching Voyager and The Next Generation... As well as another one that I can't quite remember its title... orz Ah, you never know; you might get along better than expected, regardless of your respective opinions of the latest films! I just know that Into Darkness (that was the new one, right?) is pretty much a remake of Wrath of Khan, which is what my brother (and fellow Trekkies) really take issue with. I just took issue with the fact that the plot was far too predictable and had too many ridiculous effects. Plus, it bothered me how Kirk got off so easily after breaking protocol; it's almost like he was rewarded for being a muppet. orzΒ
