This offends me as someone who would aspire to the coveted and oft-ill-given title of artist. I don't mean to take away from the aesthetic value of this piece, as it is certainly beautiful.. but to try and start a feeding frenzy bidding war is callously inauthentic and antithetical to the artistic spirit. I bid $0.01, because that is all that you have told me this piece is worth in your heart.

Not to be the voice of logic here, but people are called starving artists for a reason. The artist needs to make money and art is meant to be a career. Even the Mona Lisa was originally a commission and would have been "sold" in a matter of speaking if he hadn't taken so long. Why should it matter if the art is sold on DA or in an auction house. Likely the artist would get less for it there.
