Its a mermaid... hope you can see it hihihi... ^^
Traditional drawing with watercolors and white ink
Its an illustration for a short story i wrote!

I really like the two different designs and how they both in their own way express the mermaid feel. It's balanced out well from dark to light, and I love the face and especially the contrasting eyes. I think you could experiment with the same styles in a simpler picture to see how little you can add and still have the same surreal effect. Good work!

Just in case the critique isn't sent through: I think you most definitely captured the aqua element that is almost essential to creating a mermaid or mermaid-esque piece. This is obviously contributed by the color scheme you choice---and wisely so---which also helps add to the emotional quality of the painting.
I very much so like how you actually took the time to detail in some fish as well as aqueous plant life. It is simplistic until you full view it and see the detial of the little scales as well as the petals of the floral plants.
Unlike most pieces (which is something I, myself, am fond of) the mermaid pictured isn't ecstatic with things, she seems contradicted and even sorrowful.
I personally think you did a great job and managed to bring it to a personal level.

this is absolutely beautiful. . .i love how you did the hair, almost like its moving in water.
the contrast of using light brown eyes was a very smart move, they really pop out of all the blues and purples

Oh my goodness. This is defiantly one of my favorites! Question though, how did you get the thin fish in all that color? I forgot what the stuff is called, but I don't get how you were able to draw/paint such thin details..... Please share?

Also, I'm going to be a grammar nazi. The plural of fish is fish, unless you are talking about multiple different kinds of fish, in which case it would be fishes. So: one fish, two fish, red & blue fishes.

True, but the general anatomy and structure of the fish seem to be the same, so it can be a little misleading.

It still has some of your recognisable artistic traits but the limited colour range you have used is less of a distraction from the actual image and emphasises just how good your drawing is. I love the contrast between the hair and the vetical strands of the plants and the delicacy of the various sea creatures swimming amongst her hair. I love your brightly coloured work, but this is quite stunning.
