Description
A prop I made for my Black Mage Rikku costume. I don't have the skills or tools to work with wood, so I had to find other methods to make this thing. It is made from two sheets of foam core poster board that are hot glued together, then covered in a few layers of paper mache. After that all dried, I covered both sides with craft foam aka "Foamie" to make the surface more smooth. I painted several layers of Modge Podge and Gesso on that before I painted so that it wouldn't look like foam.

The staff head is attached to the dowl rod via Epoxy glue and two metal plates that go up the center of both sides for added support.

It's quite sturdy and light! I'm very happy with it, but I did make it a little big in size compared to the reference photo- so that bugs me. boo!
