Description
Neon Genocide as Snow from Final Fantasy XIII. Costume and jewelry made by me with some help and motivation from my friend Fire Lily! Costume debuted at Otakon 2010 in Baltimore, MD.Thoughts:
As soon as we saw a picture of this character, we knew this costume had to be made for Neon Genocide. I think he looks so much like the character, and I was so excited to see him in the complete costume for the first time at Otakon 2010!
Construction notes:
The construction of the costume was pretty easy; just another long coat to make for Neon Genocide! Nearly all of his costumes seem to have a long coat of some kind.
I decided to start this two weeks before Otakon, and I was determined to finish it in time so that he could be part of our FFXIII cosplay group! Between working full time, daily life commitments, and working on the costume, it was a stressful two weeks. I officially finished it in the hotel room the night before he wore it with the help of Fire Lily. I think it was well worth it though! I got lucky and found my old Aya Brea wig to chop up for his wig (but we are getting him a new wig soon). The khaki colored twill coat was made from scratch by me (Pixie Kitty) and is fully lined with a lighter color twill on the inside. All of the little detail lines are stitched in with dark gray thread, giant side pockets, button holes, buttons, snaps, studs...the whole deal. The vest is lined in blue with a large double separating zipper in the front. The boot spats are made of real leather (courtesy of the wonderful Fire Lily!), and they are fully functional with buckles and snaps. The gloves were bought already with a zipper, and I just added the extra (useless) buckle onto them.
I am very proud of the necklaces; they are my favorite part! The larger engagement necklace is made of Wonderflex and Paper clay with added jewels and rings, then painted with a silver nail polish. The smaller Nora Cat pendant is a combination of Craft Foam and Paper Clay...with added gems and snow flake beads going up the chain. This was also painted with silver nail polish. The armor thing on his left arm is made of Craft Foam and the bottom of a Full Throttle can, then attached to a twill arm band with grommets that ties with a leather strap. The pants are very basic straight leg with belt loops, made of black cotton twill. We had to settle for the closest blue plaid fabric we could find at the time for the front fabric panel, but we are hoping to find something a little more accurate to update it with soon! The white fringe on the bottom of the blue plaid panel was dyed to be a darker blue/gray color.
The correct studded belt did not come in time for the convention, so we used a belt stand-in. We now have the correct one...go figure...it came right after the convention!

Wow! You did a great job!
I am no costume pro-but I know how you feel finishing right before a convention. Although your project was much bigger.
I was thinking of pulling off Snow for this year's Comic-con. These instructions are a huge help! Thank you!

the Snow costume is great. My son is going to some kind of convetion in May of this year and he wants to go as Snow. I've started trying to get things going, so far we have the coat from Good will today. I have a few questions about his costume is there any way I could maybe talk with you more about it? my email is tnwildflower45@yahoo.com

So I'm not very good at sewing (I've only mended my own clothes by hand etc and that was stuff I learned in home economics back in middle school...). So making my own jacket isn't going to happen lol. I have a cosplayer friend who is willing to help me but she also has a lot on her plate so I'm trying to do what I can on my own. I have actually found a khaki trench coat of my own and was thinking about just inserting some wonderflex or card board to get the collar to do the "frat boy" collar pop . I was actually wondering if you had any tips on making the jacket lighter in color. I thought about using a watered down bleach solution but I want the color to change evenly through out the coat and don't want to ruin the one coat I have to make the costume work. I was also wondering if you ever thought about putting any sigils on Josh's coat. Cause if you ever decide to make Save the Queen... I really want to hear how that plays out.

I actually do want to put one his weapons onto the coat. I forget the one that Josh said he wanted though.

He has a lot of real cool looking sigils. Wild Bear has a "Grieverish" look to it and given all your work with that GF it might be easy to design. Save the Queen just looks plain awesome/ridiculously hard to do. So I don't think I'd wish that on anyone.

By the way I saw you asking a question about screen shots for one of Snow's coat emblems. I forget which emblem you wanted though. What I wanted to say is that there is a trick on Mission 7 where if the Mark is attacking Snow and you Summon Hecatoncheir and defeat the mark with its final attack Snow's coat will show the emblem on the normal screen. I don't know if that is too much trouble but I was able to look at Save the Queen with all its glory that way. Hope that helps.
[link] Is where I found out about it.
