My entry for the 2018 Competition! WOOT! The first round's theme was "Valentine's Day", so naturally I wanted to get this up before Valentine's day ended, which combined with the story I wanted to post first, was...an endeavor ;-; SO I'll post that later and update this with the link. For now, I leave you with a short summary until I have the actual story finished (which I should by the end of the day today), then i'll be able to attach an actual quote that explain this picture in more interesting detail.

SO! Diana and Zeze are soulmates (the love and romantic kind)!. I decided to draw this picture because I'm a bit of a history nerd, and in medieval times they believes that mid-February was when two birds paired, which I thought was sweet and very befitting of fairies , who have wings, and very much love each other (or at least in this picture, very much like, since this is after their second encounter, which happens to fall on Valentine's Day ). There's also Zeze acting as Cupid, except instead of a bow and arrow, she's wielding a spear (because that's what she's skilled at, and spears are her favorite weapon). I put hearts all over this because that's amore

I personally think that Valentine's day is about love in general, but in this picture I wanted to focus on Diana and Zeze's budding romance. Zeze joins Alfea two days before Valentine's day and is lost because the campus directions are off. Diana encounters her and is immediately smitten by her (and subsequently attempts to woo her). After class she calls the flower shop where she ordered a bouquet of roses for herself on Valentine's day, and changes the order so the bouquet of roses go to Zeze instead. A day passes, it's Valentine's Day, and when Diana gets back to her dorm she finds a single red rose taped to the door with a small note that's signed "-Z". Diana, who is very enamored, tucks the rose behind her ear for the aesthetic and enters their dorm room while Ariel is rambling to Malta about her theories on the true origins of Valentine's day (basically being a history nerd lol) and sinks into their couch in a happy haze of love-ness I made chibis because why not
This illustration is definitely from Diana's perspective because of the drama of it all of course she's envisioning that Zeze is Cupid, personally sent to push her into the abyss that is l ve. Diana is a romantic ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I hope ya'll like it! I'll post the actual story later and link it in case ya'll are interested. I'm also really excited to be in MM again! The last time I did MM was in 2012, and I was with Ariel (which now that I think about it, wasn't her style at all. MM is definitely more Di's thing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯). No bases or external resources were used in this picture (which made it infinitely harder, BUT also much more fun and satisfying!). I'm not putting a watermark on this picture because I think it'll mess with the aesthetic of picture, but that absolutely does not mean anyone is allowed to post this or use this elsewhere without permission (you all know the drill by now >.>).

Notes for the curious, because i'm sure some of you are wondering:

-Diana is bi ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

-Zeze whatever the hell she wants to be (is she lesbian? bi? some other thing? idfk I haven't figured out those details yet) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-Absolutely no homophobia will be tolerated on this deviation, account, or vicinity. If you have a problem, just block me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯\_(ツ)_/¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-do i get extra points for listening to metal the entirety i was drawing this? i love metal ;-;
-I love my sapphic bbys <3 ;-; they grow so fast!
