Description Matthew ended his phone call. His mind was still processing what he'd revealed. In less than an hour, he knew where the criminal was. It was a personal best. As Matthew admired his brilliant brain, something crashed through the window. As it slammed into his head, he fell to the floor and a cold shiver ran down his spine.

William approached the ledge. Bending down, he ran his finger over the dusty marble. As he did so, it glowed vibrantly. He looked down, crowds of students and staff surrounded him. Someone coughed. William span around. A misty figure ducked behind the chimney.

Matthew awoke and looked around for the thing that had so violently slammed into his head.  As he scoured the room, he soon drew to the conclusion that whatever it had been, it was no longer there. Knowing what he must do, he stood up and composed himself before casually exiting his office. After five minutes, he found himself standing outside the biggest building in the school, a few kids from year nine and ten where scattered around, being ushered away by some of the staff. Other members of staff were shouting to the boy standing on the building, telling him to come down. He wasn't listening. In fact William Ray had remained still as he stood on the vast building.

Matthew sprinted towards the side of the building. He rapidly climbed up the ladder at the side of the building.

As Matthew edged closer to William, he began to speak in a soothing voice. "Come on, we can resolve this some other way."

"No, you don't believe me." William cried. "This is the only way that I can prove to you, Matt."

Matthew moved closer to the edge, giving a reassuring grin. "There's no need, I believe you." It was then that he spotted the glowing dust on William's finger.

William turned to face the edge of the building and took a step forward. A sudden gust of wind circled around him. Matthew observed as William looked down. Taking a deep breath, he leapt to catch William. Yet he leapt a moment to late…

Matthew let out a sharp cry as the marble edge dug into his ribs. Looking down, he spotted William, floating above crowds of people. Matthew knew that if he didn't act soon, William would run out of energy and fall to the ground. He clasped William's wrist and tugged with both hands, ignoring the pulsing pain that was entering his head.

"I was flying…" William whispered as he was pulled higher.

Matthew groaned and pulled William up onto the ledge.

Suddenly, a dark cloud swept across the sky. Rain began to hammer against his skin at such force that Matthew was being swept closer to the edge.

Matthew shrieked as he slipped from the ledge. He pulled himself up but dropped again underneath the heavy downpour. Crunch. Matthew cried in pain and sharply removed his hand from underneath someone's heavy shoe. His hand throbbed in the bitter wind and as he looked up, he was greeted by a face that was all too recognisable.

"We meet again, Eagle." a hoarse voice echoed in Matthews's ears.

"Chains…" he gritted his teeth as he tried to lift himself up once again.

"The one and the only." The corners of Chains mouth curled upwards forming a wry grin.

All of a sudden, Chains cried out and doubled over. William's foot was planted sturdily on the back of his neck.

Matthew pulled himself up as William dragged Chains across the roof top. He pulled his phone from his soaked pocket. Once again he dialled Alex's number. "Get here, now…"

"Matthew?" Alex shouted from the end of the line. "Are you okay?"

"Get here." he puffed.

"I'm coming." The phone line went dead.

---

"That could have been you over and done with Matt. One more slip off the fingers and we might not have seen you again." Alex sat in Matthew's office, head in hands.

Matthew was pacing up and down the room, "Like I can control the weather!" he cried.

"Sorry, I just-" Alex sighed, "Why was he there, Matt?"

"You think I know?" Matthew confronted him, "You think I invited him? You think I sat down in my office and wrote him an invite?" clenching his fists, he took a deep breath. "That's typical of you Alex, assuming I know the answers all the time."

"I'm only human, Matthew." Alex stared in disbelief. "I make mistakes,"

Matthew slammed his fist down on his desk and sat down. "And so do I…"

There was a gentle knock on the door.

"Come in." Matthew grunted.

William walked in, a towel draped around his shoulders. "Hello."

Alex shuffled his chair over, making way for William to sit down.

"Yes." Matthew replied.

"I'm sorry, Matt."

"There's nothing to be sorry about."

"I shouldn't have tried proving it."

"I should have trusted you."

"Yeah." William shrugged. "I need some advice, now I know that you're a super hero – I mean, the Blue Eagle? You're a legend!"

"Of course." Matthew sighed. "I knew you'd start on about that – it's a name William, a name. I'm still the same person I've always been!"

William blinked, acknowledging Matthew's bad temper. "Well, now that we know that I really can fly. I am that one in five million, so…what do I do?"

"I don't know." Matthew shook his head. "What is this? Am I like some kind of human search engine today? How should I know all the answers?"

"I know." Alex raised a hand from the corner of the room, dismissing Matthew's rage. "Matt, get your SAT."

Matthew opened his bottom draw and took out a small device. "Here." he said, gesturing towards the gadget in his hand. "Take it."

Alex took it from him and nodded. "This," he began as he showed William, "Is very important. It gives you access to any missions you wish to take part in, a data base of criminals and any resources you might need." Alex interrupted. "I think I have one handy, actually." he opened up his portfolio case and took out a large pouch. From it, he withdrew one of the devices Matthew had given him. "It's called a SAT, standing for Super Alliance Tracker." He passed William one of the gadgets and connected a long wire to it. He then connected the wire to a small socket in the wall, and the contents of the SAT became projected on the adjacent wall.

"This," Alex pointed to a button projected on the wall labelled 'Profile', "Is where your rank and level will be taken track of."

"What's my rank?" William queried.

"When you start out, as a hero, you simply have no rank. You are known by your first name and first name only. As you complete missions and solve crimes, you earn…points, we shall say. By earning a certain amount of points you 'level up'. Once you reach a certain level, you will be able to upgrade your rank and claim your 'hero name'. It's a little like a computer game…except it's all too real."

"It sounds like an awful lot of work,"

"It is." Matthew stood up, denying William any further information. "Chains." he turned to face Alex, "Where is he?"

"I do believe he fled, I can't work out why he was here, though."

"What's the deal with this guy, Chains, if that's his name?" William ran his hand along the edge of the crisp towel still draped around his shoulders.

"Ben Harrison, better known as Chains, is one of the country's biggest criminal masterminds." Alex clicked something on the SAT and a projection of a stylish young man appeared on the wall. "See this." He pointed to some markings on Chain's arm. The markings showed a long line of chains wrapped around his arm. "That's his tattoo. See this." he pointed to a line of chains hanging from his pocket. "That's his number one weapon. We do believe that that's what marked your friends face. What's his name?"

"Evan?" William replied.

"Yes, that's him." Alex nodded. "Chains isn't a super hero, and far from it…however he is an expert in martial arts and a top grade student. At the age of just nineteen has stolen from over fifteen banks worldwide, murdered two individuals and stolen from over twenty homes across Britain."

"Blimey…" William threw his head back and rubbed his face.

"Yep." Matthew popped the 'p'. He didn't understand why William needed to know this. He didn't have a philosophers mind or a scientist's logic, nor was he a private detective like Matthew himself. He had no experience. No right to be given information about Matthew's case.

"Matt, you're not looking for Chains on your own." Alex announced.

Matthew sighed.

"William, I want you to help out." Alex grinned.

"What?" William cried.

"He's too young, Alex." Matthew rubbed his temple as he grew agitated. "He has no training."

"This is why you're starting in November." Alex grinned. "Matt, you are going to train William."

"I'm what?" Matthew froze. "I'm not going to waste my time when I have better things to do. There are far too many parent consent forms and I'm certainly not obliged to train fifteen year olds with no experience, and you know that I won't train fifteen year olds with no experience…"

"It's a secret, remember? No parent consent forms needed," Alex pointed out. "William, we will enrol you in Alliance Academy almost immediately, of course, your parents will know you are being transferred to another school…just not which one."

"What's Alliance Academy?" William asked.

"It's the Academy for super heroes, the police force and private investigators." Alex looked at Matthew. "Matt will be transferring too."

"Great, I'm moving too."

"The police want to grab hold of your identity…do you remember?" Alex stated, "It's the perfect opportunity to transfer.

"So, for the last two hours you've been worrying about my safety and identity and none of it mattered?"

"Of course it matters Matt." Alex shook his head. "Besides; I needed to teach you a lesson."

"Geez, some lesson that was." Matt flopped back into his chair.

"A lesson worth teaching…" Alex smirked.

"I very much doubt it." he glared.
