Description
Let's have a think...this emoticon OC (original character) needs to be personal to you. Some one you can relate to, in a sense. They need to be unique/original, creative, and they can even have them mirror your personal traits. This is a guide helping you get a grip on emoticon OC's. Enjoy!
Name
You may choose to name your character first, or name it after. A name helps you relate to your character. For example, when you get a pet you name it and then it feels more like yours...am I making sense? A name can reflect your personality, be a shortened version of your username or you real name or it could be something completely unique. For example, =otohime0394 's emoticon OC is named Selador. Selador is a play on words - Cellar Door... Like :devotohomie0394: went for, you could go for a creative, unique name. Or, you could adapt your username to fit. For example, =em0-rainb0ws OC is called Mo. =e m0-rainb0ws = Mo.
My OC, Pixella, is a strange reflection of me. Pixella = = pixiepot = pixel art.
Your OC's name could even reflect something from it's appearance. Perhaps your OC has spiky hair, a common variable for a name could then be Spike.
Colours
The colour you choose could be your favourite colour, the colour of your hair, a colour related to your OC's name...pretty much anything. Here's a list of things to take into consideration:
- You might want to think about shading. For many emoticonist, the following colours can get hard to shade: Variations of black/grey/white, yellow, red
- The colour might be a colour that links with your nationality. For example, you could use some of the colours in your country's flag.
- Some emoticonists, such as =The--Last--Hope and =BlissfullySarcastic , have two or three colours on their emote OC's.
Originality
Originality is key. Take a look at some of the emoticon OC's around. They gain popularity through being original. For example, Evelyn, =converse-kidd 's OC, is deviantGREEN. I'm pretty sure that's original
Features
There are tons of features you can put onto your OC to make it more than just an emote. For example, here's a list:
- Horns/Ears
- Hats
- Hair
- Glasses
- Headphones
- Wings
- Tails
