Description I'm working on my colouring but this is my new way of colouring digitally. I have some more pictures like this and hope to upload them at a later date.

There are a few problems such as the fact that the tone is far to subtle and there are some anatomy problems (especially with the hand ) that I hope to fix in the future other than that, I think I did okay.

I also want to add a background to this later on.

William (the boy in the drawing) is a character in my Clockwork literature series and I decided to make this seen as my family are Northern Irish and it is St Paddy's day tomorrow (17th March 2012).

I hope you like it.

Programs Used

I think the anatomy's fine. Some shading would add more depth and make the drawing more realistic. Work on it slowly! <3 Tutorials would be helpful but I'm not really in the position to recommend any. I'd like to see more of your characters. (:

Thank. There is shading - just far too subtle. I shaded it using cell shading but when it came to blending it, I over blended it.

Thank you

Well, that's the key. Making your characters recognizable from picture to picture.

Okay, I'll keep that in mind. I have a design for Matthew but I'm just perfecting it before I post it up to dA.

Do you know what they do and how they work?

Well I make vector emoticons but I'm unsure as what you mean?

I have never heard of vector emoticons

But vector art is art made using just basic shapes and curves. Sounds weird, but is really logical and a great help to do these types of things quickly when you try it.
Normally in photoshop (or whatever you did this in), if you draw lines etc, it's hard to change the line afterwards.
But in vector programs, you can change the lines as much as you like
Here's my only vector work: [link] (it looks terrible so please don't laugh )
You should try downloading a free program like Inkscape , to try it out.
You'll be surprised at how easy it is

Lot's of people don't seem to know about vector programs and don't realize how much time and effort they could save

Yes it's the same as a vector emoticon. I make them on Inkscape. I was just wondering why?

Well do you see how you could use Inkscape to make drawings like this really cleanly?

Very nice!
I think you're right about the subtle tone, it takes practice but you shouldn't be afraid to go crazy with dark tones. I think the anatomy is very impressive indeed, though! You've certainly got the proportions right, and if it needed any tweaking it would only be minor.
