Yes. I drew them all. ALL THOSE MEN.It started out as simple headshot doodles. It happened because of my constant reading of harvest moon fanfiction -cough- and I needed to differentiate between the characters... no offense to natsume or whatever, but all of the characters pretty much have the same base, except tweaking the eye shape, color and hairstyle... well, mostly all of them... and I was terribly bored, so I thought, "WHY THE FUCK NOT?" And so I did... in my own style... I'm not exactly sure where to put that on the style spectrum... it's not exactly anime/manga style, nor is it western cartooning... whatever.
I blatantly used the poses from fogu because I am hopeless at everything to do with the human body and clothes.
THESE MEN, ALL THESE MEN, I'm about to murder them all because my eyes are killing me from staring at a computer screen all day.
JUST A PIECE OF ADVICE, KIDS: when you have a stye in your eye, the best remedy is NOT staring at a computer screen.
Anywho... This is my first really serious piece of line art, and you can probably tell that I improved from the left to the right... as that is the order in which I drew them.
I hate drawing shoes.

Thats another deviants rendition of him obviously but they stayed true to the details in the manga/anime....
So, ignoring the colors, they both have: the coat, the pants, the shoes, the hair, the pose (even though not in this pic) .... and the apparent flamboyant-ness. Its eerie~ lol

The style you gave each one really fits their personality, though, and I like that they're not all skinny jawed, pug nosed pretty people (...like a certain artist who might just be commenting on it right now |D").

I don't really care about Julius, but I couldn't imagine him realistically, and now that you've drawn him, he looks absolutely wonderful! Hell, these designs will forever be what I see in my mind's eye when I play this game, because omg, right on the mark.

I mean, I'll probably look back at this in a couple of years and think they don't look different enough. But I digress; I like my men looking like MEN... The kind who grill, fix things, and manly shit like that. Except Gill probably wouldn't be able to lift a screwdriver.
Julius. Motherfucking Julius was fucking awful. I ended looking up pictures of flamboyantly gay men as inspiration (note: do not ever do this; I saw some things I wish I could unsee).
I pretty much only did these drawings because I couldn't handle the sameness of the characters in the game. (gill's nose is so fun to draw)

It taught you about the things Julius would do if Harvest Moon were an h-game, and not a cute little game about farming and pairing everyone up.
Well, it's an anime based game xD If people in this series were realistic, it wouldn't have the gooey fanbase it does. (I want it realistic though >:I)

I don't know if you've read it yet, but "repetition" by Winter Oak is absolutely wonderful. It's a longfic (which I love) and it's a Wizard/Akari then later Wizard/Hikari. It's a wonderful story that keeps the character's personalities in tact, but delving deeper into their emotions and motives. I love it... [link]

Well, they changed artists between the DS games and when they began ToT and AP. I personally don't like their new style... I liked the old artists style better.
I like how you made Tobi, Luke, and Jin's faces the most, and Luke's boots are neat.

Ya know, I used to really love the FoMT and MFoMT, but then when they came out with the DS games, my mom wouldn't get me them, so I don't really know much about that... But when it comes to style... I don't particularly like it that much better... the heads were always too big for me, hence my renditions of the characters in my own style, haha.
Toby? I love Toby. When I was ruminating on how to make the character's faces unique, I had to think about their personalities, and Toby always struck me as just a kid, only grown up some... just really laid back and having a boyish face. He was the simplest to draw, quite frankly.
Luke... Oh Luke. I feel like he has gotten in so many precarious situations that end up absolutely horrible. He probably had a million injuries as a child, hence the silly broken nose shape. My friend really loves Luke so I drew him a long time ago for her, so he was really the first. It was difficult to give him that almost feline quality about him without slanting his eyes so much that he looked asian or something...
Speaking of Asian, I find Jin to be the only really explicitly Asian guy in the game. It bugs me when artists depict all characters as Asian just because of the fact it's from an Asian company or whatever. When designing my own versions of the characters, I thought about their ancestry and what country or ethnicity from which they descend. Like Gill? I think of him as a mix between German and upper class English, whereas Owen felt really, I dunno, Russian? On what basis, I have no idea... but ya get the point.

I don't own a Wii so I can't play the Wii games, but I love the characters. Wizard recently has captivated my interest (and I've written like three different fanfictions about him already...)
I just think the old style was a little...softer. More generic chibi, maybe? Not to say I don't like the new style, it's just harder for me to draw the characters, hah. (Then again, I have been spoiled by DS sprites.)
Toby. My bad Dx Like I said, I've never played the games, and I couldn't remember if it was an "i" or "y". He seems like it in the pictures I've seen. He's real chill. He makes me think of Denny from IoH and SI.
Luke makes me think of the typical stubborn, hard-headed, heartful kind of guy. Like, he acts with all his heart and does everything with everything he has, which could be a bad thing or a good thing.
Speaking of Asian, there's the cutest little Asian boy in Island of Happiness and Sunshine Islands. I remember back in A Wonderful Life and in Friends of Mineral Town, when they had the two or three little kids, and in IoH and SI there's more of them and they're darling. (Except Eliza. Her personality annoys me to pieces.)
I just love how the games give you a little on the characters but not too much, enough for you to draw your own conclusions. You haven't played the DS games (...may I recommend a Emulator? >:3) so you wouldn't see the resemblance, but in Harvest Moon: DS Cute there's a bachelor that has silver hair (Skye), and you can pick between Claire or Pony. The next games to come out - Island of Happiness and Sunshine Islands - are labeled as "next gen". ...and guess what, in those games there is a bachelor named Vaughn with silver hair, and purple eyes. Mix of Skye and Pony?! I think so!
No worries! XD I'm sooo glad I found someone who is as a big of fan of HM as I am. My boyfriend always tells me "I like Harvest Moon, but you like it more than anyone else I've ever met..." Which, of course, embarasses me.

Ahaaaaaaaaaaa... I've used an DS emulator, but it's really difficult for me to spend long hours at the computer playing games... and also my computer hates me so it deletes files randomly, most of which are emulator game files... -le sigh-
But if I had an actual DS, I would be ALL OVER THAT SHIT.
I love that about these games, the just enough personality to get your imagination going and to bend them to your will (figuratively and literally( )
