Admittedly this isn't really done yet, but I can't help putting it in with my deviations. I honestly like it quite a bit.This is, in case you couldn't guess, Naruto from the anime Naruto. I drew him as a teen, because in the series he's only about twelve. The point of this picture lies in Naruto's right hand. It's a piece of chalk- and he used it to draw most of the leaves around him. In the colored version, the edges of the mass of stuff Naruto's sitting on (foliage) will be drawn in chalk, and rest will appear real.
This (i hope) leaves you to wonder how much of his resting place did Naruto draw, and how much of it is real?

Would that work? If I ever color it and it looks as gorgeous as it does in my brain, I will post that too.

The whole real/not-real thing along with his facial expression could also lead on to wonder what other symbolism there is when he makes comparisons in his life. It kinda reminds me of "is it real?" by the seatbelts from the Cowboy Bebop movie soundtrack ::trails off and crawls back into her hole::

Ha! Yoko Kanno (and The Seatbelts) are the shit. I've got a chock full of their songs on my computer. And Cowboy Bebop --- genius.
Speaking of good anime, have you ever watched Millenium Actress? The person who directed that movie also directed something called Blue Impact. Or at least, I think that's what it's called. o_0

Hm. Well, with the movies, I think that you can find them in the Foreign/International/Whatever section of a video store. I've also seen them in some comicbook stores. My friend showed it to me after renting it from Blockbuster.
As for the music, I download it, though I realize it is no way of supporting the artists you love. I've yet to see a Cowboy Bebop soundtrack outside of the internet, and my mother doesn't allow me to buy things online. Blah. If I ever do see these somewhere other than the virtual world and am not broke, I'll purchase them within a heartbeat.
