Hello pobtott,

What is happening with Any Color You Like, will you then create a new version from scratch, or is anyone taking this over?

thank you

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply, I don't check this page often.

I am not working on a new version or starting over from scratch and as far as I know nobody is taking it over. I'm a bit sad that the project is not maintained but it is just not something I want to spend time on.

So? This is great project, really, but if it's not developed, it's dead. pobtott , if you do not have enough time for this, could you please at least publish it's sources this on github, so the community could develop it further?

pobtott In reply to estemal [2016-06-10 13:41:34 +0000 UTC]

The code is already in the files, and anyone can use it however they want. But the code is a mess and it would be better to rewrite it from scratch, so I don't see much of a point in putting it on github.

I have updated to gtk3 version of script for this theme. But as I can see, author is not interested of continuing development of this theme.

I've asked already: could you put the source code to github or anywhere else so other people could continue develpment?

@mikeubuntuser

Yeah almost 4 years late to the party, LOL...

This is SO SAD that the development of this has not contintued, or
at least for bloody sakes, someone in the Linux community picking
up the code and continuing it on, that has the coding abilities...

It's just to nice of an app to die and it really saddens me how outdated it's getting
in terms of a lack of icons at least...

I contacted the Author, not sure if he's going to do anything...

24 hours in the day, are people really that busy in life? LOL...

Hi,

This is truly one of the best icon sets out there, I really love using this!

But I have a problem, I found out that some applications that draw their icons through wxGTK, need to have in the icon directory a valid, 'index.theme' & 'icon-theme.cache'

I tried to update the cache for Any Color You Like, and I get this message from the terminal;

gtk-update-icon-cache /home/foo/.icons/ACYL_Icon_Theme_0.9.4
gtk-update-icon-cache: The generated cache was invalid.

Can you please fix Any Color You, so it can create a 'icon-theme.cache'?

Thank you very much for your time and consideration, I hope you will please fix this...

What python version are you running? Version 3.0 broke backwards compatibility. The script should work fine with version 2.7.x.

Hi, nice icons, but your script is giving me grief

$ cd ~/.icons/ACYL_Icon_Theme_0.9.4/scalable/scripts
$ python2 script_gui.py

You do not have the gconf module installed, however it is optional.

python2: cairo-scaled-font.c:459: _cairo_scaled_glyph_page_destroy: Assertion `!scaled_font->cache_frozen' failed.

zsh: abort      python2 script_gui.py

Any help? Python2 is at 2.7.8, and I am using cairo-infinality-ultimate

I did a quick search of your problem and it seams to be related to missing fonts.
This forum thread bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.ph… looks to be about the same problem.

Hi, I'm having some trouble with your script. when i try to execute the script it says there is no such directory. I have it in usr/share/.icons and i'm trying everything i can think of to execute the AnyColorYouLike script. I'm using #! btw. I'm trying to get the icon color like this guy's.

Python 2.7 is required to run the script maybe you are missing that? Which directory is missing? If you could post the output maybe I could be of more help.

i have pyton 2.7.3. If i open the root terminal at the ACYL folder and then type in anycoloryoulike this is what i get

roottappy :/usr/share/icons/ACYL_Icon_Theme_0.9.4# AnyColorYouLike
bash: AnyColorYouLike: command not found

If i try navigating there like in your description it tells me the directory cannot be found.

pobtott In reply to beergeek715 [2014-06-15 00:05:10 +0000 UTC]

2.7.3 sould be fine. You can't cd to the folder? That is weird.... I really have no clue what could be doing that.

Try opening the "AnyColorYouLike" script in a text editor and then try to run the commands in the script manually by yourself. Maybe that will work better.

hello, waiting for a new version of these icons, congratulations. One question, when you install the theme icons, these do not replace all applications. I detected two that are not replaced, clementine and chromium.

Your will know why?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

pobtott In reply to clerafel [2014-05-05 16:11:16 +0000 UTC]

Both those icons are in the theme, maybe the developers renamed the file name of the icon so it does not match anymore. If you can find the proper file name for the applications icon just copy the corresponding icon in /scalable/apps/ and rename the copy to the correct name.

Most likely you have the wrong version of python. When they updated to python 3.0 backwards compatibility was broken. So I suggest you try to install python 2.7. It should be possible to have several versions of python running.

I think it will work in xfce and yes, you can install it in /usr/share/icons, you might need to run the script as root tho.

As for updates, I plan on releasing a new version but have no idea as for how long it will take.
