"A job and a couple of days off each week so I can keep some sanity."

YES oh GOD YES :clapping::clapping::clapping::clapping::clapping::clapping:

NO! Don't take it down please! (Or at least replace it with the version you like better. )

Anyone who says there are no stupid questions has never endured a job interview.

Ultima-Squirrel [2011-05-28 04:05:01 +0000 UTC]

As soon as I realised this was divided into the "honest" answer, and the real one, I was sold. This is very well done!

I'm still too young to have to suffer through the job hunt, but when I got my part time job, I did terribly in the interview. All I really said was "Let me show you how I work, and you can judge for yourself". I don't think they'd have hired me, except for the fact I was originally there on work experience.

I really wish more people valued honesty in situations like this. Just like now, "How are you?" is used almost always as an idle formality, few people wait for a response, let alone really want one.

PoetsHand In reply to Ultima-Squirrel [2011-05-28 07:12:18 +0000 UTC]

The thing that gets me is that the answers can be lies and everyone is ok with that! "It's all how you present yourself." I have seen people do very well in interviews yet make lousy workers. however, they "presented" themselves well!

Thank you for the kind comments!

This sums up the last year and a 4 months of my life...

true story - the first thing a manager said to me during my first job interview was "you havn't had a job... don't you know someone who can just give you a job?!"

why the fuck would I apply for this soul-draining minimum wage job if I did...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PoetsHand In reply to Desinent-River [2011-05-27 00:17:41 +0000 UTC]

So frustrating, isn't it? Sorry to hear you've been through this for so long.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Desinent-River In reply to PoetsHand [2011-05-27 00:52:00 +0000 UTC]

It's not that bad... my parents are convinced that qualifications guarantees job but from talking to people, thats just not the case and whenever a fricken shop manager confirms it, you lose faith

I'm just enjoying my unemployedness since I am not poor and still get to do whatever I want even if I can't get any money to move out from my parents house

Heavens this is certainly different. Great structure, it's a mountain of a piece. Don't think i'd know where to start writing one of these. Well done

Believe it or not I've only ever had 4 job interviews with 3 job offers. Not keen on change

StolenIndigo [2011-05-25 11:13:16 +0000 UTC]

This is amazing, and even thought it was probably really hard you managed to structure it well xD
reading this poem i thought that we all have to put up this cover to to please and impress those with power, or an upper-hand to us, because if we express our real thought's they might not like it, it's like someone asking 'how are you' and you replying 'i'm fine' when you're really not, it's so easy to put up a cover when we really want or need something

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

PoetsHand In reply to StolenIndigo [2011-05-26 00:20:28 +0000 UTC]

Isn't that the truth. Job interviews are mostly all lies. It's all based on how you present yourself.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

StolenIndigo In reply to PoetsHand [2011-05-26 16:03:08 +0000 UTC]

that's very true.. doesn't it show that everyone is a little insecure of themselves, that they have to actually Lie about how they really are
