Description
So I was feeling nostalgic for my earlier days on dA, and I decided I wanted to try another Freedom Planet pic and see how far I'd come. Carol's usually been the main character I have the hardest time drawing, so I thought I'd place her on her motorcycle for a crazy early-morning ride through the city. This cityscape was inspired by Brazilian favelas, which are dense, plain, low-income housing projects typically on steep hills - speaking of which, if you haven't played the indie game Papo & Yo, I highly recommend it; its setting looks like this and it's got a very sweet story.

I really like what you did with the angle! Β It makes it look like she's in for a pretty dangerous landing! Β ^^

That's a very nice and cool picture you've done of Carol riding her bike around such a setting for sure.

I thought the details among the buildings would help with the feeling that she was "disrupting" the place. Thanks!

Carol can make her big ol' hog jump off walls and climb ladders. And I can't even drive one in a straight line! Pff.

I'm too much of a wuss to get on one myself, heh. I'm fine with a good old acoustic motorcycle with two pedals.

Nice. Mind I ask you, how do you feel about the character art change for Freedom Planet 2? It just seems weird to me that how the characters in that look nothing like how they looked in the first game.

I don't personally like the new designs at all, but I guess we're lucky to be getting a sequel to an indie game that started as a fan project in the first place. The FP2 designs, though, feel... I can't really describe it, just kind of soulless and generic.

Well I get that they are trying to move away from the older designs since Freedom Planet was originally a Sonic fan game but yeah I don't like the new designs either and I'm not sure if I want to play Freedom Planet 2.

I'll still definitely buy it - cosmetics aren't everything - but I hope they'll consider going back if there's ever a third game, a spin-off, or a comic or something.

Hmm, that would actually be pretty interesting if there was a Freedom Planet comic.

Thank you! Probably 80% of the time I spent on this was on the background, which is pretty high even for me, and I'm glad it paid off.
