Ever since I moved to the world of the mundane, I've been asked question after question about practical magic. People ask how to do it, if it's hard, if I can teach them. They all want to know how to make their lives easier (read: how to get away with laziness). They never like what I have to tell them.

"Why on earth would you want something as horrid as practical magic why you can shoot off multicolored sparks and create snow that never melts? Practical magic is all just ways to an end--impractical magic is all I'll teach you."
