It was amusing, Santa thought, to see who the elves would elect their leader. This year it was a scrawny little redhead who barely came up to his knees. She was cute, sure, what with her uniform green cap tucked over her unruly bangs, but she just wasn't very intimidating.

"Sir, I'm serious."

"Yes, I'm sure you are, Elise, but that simply doesn't change a thing. Santa is supposed to have a belly like a bowlful of jelly," he reminded her.

She sighed. "Be that as it may, the reindeer simply can't handle it anymore!"

Dismissively, "Then get flying elephants."
