Description
heyaaaaa... this is my first time making a tutorialactually this is a mix of the making of a commission and a tutorial.
this tutorial is made in and for Adobe Photoshop CS, but i think lower version of PS still can use it because i didn't use any fancy brush to color.
Recommended for Photoshop 7+ and tablet users.
Mouse users can use this technique too only remember to use low opacity for shading. and set the Shape Dynamic Control to "Fade". Kinda hard to do, but still do-able.
NOTE: this technique can't be used on Black and/or White base color because the brush modes like multiply and screen wouldn't take any effect on black. better use middle value color as the base color for this technique.
Finished painting: [link]
NOTE: the brush size is specific for the drawing I used, but you may need to use a smaller or larger brush depending on your drawing.
Special thanks go to:
1. =Adiene for letting me use Jewel as the star of this gig.
2. ~Lillejord as my grammar editor and for did a test run on this tutorial!!!
if there's still any grammatical errors, i'm sorry, we're only human.
now enjoy this tutorial and believe me, you're only ONE COLOR AWAY TO BEAUTIFUL HAIR!!
Please credit *kry1 if you use this tutorial

This is actually the first GOOD hair coloring tutorials I've seen anywhere. Many of the people that have tablets out there... well... let's face it, they're cakes with nub filling. <3 Nubcakes. (I include myself in this variety)
But this tutorial is excellent simply because it offers an excellent starting point. And honestly, I think it's one of the best newbie friendly tutorials I've seen out there. Notice my reaction:
kry1: heyaaaaa... this is my first time making a tutorial
Me: *slurp, slurp, slurp*
kry1: actually this is a mix of the making of a commission and a tutorial.
Me: *louder slurp, slurp, slurp, licking the screen*
kry1: excuse me, I'm trying to do a tutorial here!
Me: You brought this upon yourself!

Wish I could do that with my own hair. Turn on the computer, and create whatever I want. Get bored with it, and just delete the offending layers, then make something new. -_-

Knowing my luck, I'd run into a bunch of glitches and end up with clown hair, so maby it's a good thing life ISN'T that easy.

that clears the problem.. a mouse doesn't have pressure sensitivity like a tablet, so no matter what your settings on the brushes are, they will always shows opaque colors.
you have to adjust the opacity/flow manually when you're using a mouse.

hmm.. i suppose Photoshop still have the same tools right? only the keyboard commands are different. i think alt=option and ctrl=command. i hope that was correct and if you read it again, i didn't use too many keyboard commands here.. (i only found one, actually, as an alternative for Eyedropper tool) so it's useable for both Windows and Mac
give it a try! ^^

Cool! You're awesome! I clicked the (tablet) link in your artist's description, and saw the tablet....but no price....and no order form. So I clicked where it said "Where to buy", and the US wasn't on the list. Oh well, whatever I did wrong, I'm glad you pointed me in the right direction! You're very kind! Mind if I ask you how you like it? I really want one, and this one is at least reasonably priced!

i googgled it
it works fine for drawing n coloring. read the reviews there, all of them were true. i experienced some minor annoyance such as it's so sensitive so it does double clicking out of will, lol! but well, it's a cheap one, so can't really expect it to have the best quality.
i like it so far..
