I always kind of wonder what sort of relationship Adam and Eve had. Were they a happy couple, so in love that the troubles melted away? Were they an angry couple who argued all the time? How did they take the death of Abel and the dissapearance of Cain? Where did wives come into the picture?

Well in the bible it says that since Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit of knowledge, that put tension in their relationship. and that is why no couple is perfect

not from the head so that women won't master the man
not from the feet so that women won't be lower than man
not from the hand so that women won't (punch?) the man (i forgot this one)
but from the rib, so that she would be close to man's heart
let's hope that the other ribs won't mean the same.

I gather from my studies that the rib is also significant in terms of protection and support. The woman is the helper and protector of her husband's heart and mission. Men and women protect each other in special ways unique to them.
