amongst shadow,
inside a,

Crying for help,
But I was deaf.
Then
you
came,
Heard.
And
.unlocked.
it.
Unafraid,
embracing them.
I wondered,
if I was aware
of their existence,
Would I have done the same?
Or would I have
just seen
their demonic faces,
and not their
angelic bodies.
Would I have
left them there
to rot?
Starve?
Fade?
Die?
Do they Die?

I like how raw and yet lovely (enticing even) you make letting go and releasing them seem. This is such an amazing piece, insightful and so where I have been for a long time. I've starved them, kept them caged, muzzled them, but they are always still there, waiting, needing to be out, free, open. No, they do not die, even though we may weaken them.
I'm finally breaking free of long held inhibitions, restrictions, beliefs about myself and it isn't easy to do. Especially alone with those you have cared about thinking that you've betrayed them, are immoral, depraved for wanting something different, needing more, for being different.

I can't usually deal with poetry; it generally feels flowery and pretentious to me (no offence to anyone who loves poetry intended, it's just me) but this is a glimpse into someone's soul. It raises questions about the attitudes they've been raised with, believing sex to be immoral and dirty when in fact it can be amazing/wonderful and someone else helps them to discover and then wondering if what they're feeling is wrong or right and is it ok to feel like that? And were those feelings always there, hidden away? This was the first of your pieces I've read and I have to admit I'm interested in reading the others now.
