Description
We can see straight to the beginning, from our little perch. At night, we can see the massive cloud remnants from the supernova below us. Our parents always told us to never look directly at our planet's rings, for they are made of ice, and reflect the sunlight so strongly that we could easily go blind in under 8 seconds. We can see the remnants; the remnants from the beginning of the universe. We have long since lost orbit around any sun, and the gravity pulling us towards destiny is now more powerful than ever. We are being sucked in, back to origin. Back to the beginning. It will start all over again, just as it has for the last trillion years. Gas clouds surround us, ominously looming towards the light. I have never been scared of the dark, but we are all afraid of the light. The light, our beginning, will soon be our ending._-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
(cue scary "BAA BAA BAAAAAA!!!!!" music)
YAY!!!! FINISHED, and the SPACE ARTISTS DEVPACK IS HERE!!!!!!
Oh, my god. This is a really, really long time in the making. I have spent over three weeks on this piece. Original resolution is huge, forgot what it is, but definitely big enough for prints.
Alright stats...
Adobe Photoshop CS2
Layers: 280
Photoshop File Size: almost 300 mb.
Wacom Tablet: brushing gas clouds and gas wisps.
Total Time Taken: over 3 weeks.
I used my tablet more than ever here. All of those gas clouds are almost completely brushed, even the ones closed to the planet... the realistic looking ones are very much brushed. A few stock photos from my own camera
I hope you enjoy this one, I really do. I have slaved over it like never before, it is my best picture thusfar, and give it a fav and a comment. I want to hear what you think on this one

eh, I don't believe so
My HDD crashed about a month ago, and I lost ALL my photoshop files, this one included.
Anyways, I believe that the largest resolution is shown here. I didn't work on a large canvas to complete this piece.

Thanks!
It's the same with everything else. If you use it for a couple of years, you're bound to discover how to use it other ways in the future.

I must admit, it rocks, but dude.... 3 weeks and 280 layers? I think that's a bit too much. Except your original is 10240x7680 px... then 3 weeks would be really worth it...
Anyways, it's really nice. What's with the red star? Does that mean sth?

the original size was something like 3000x4000. it took so long beacuse I wanted to make it big enough for prints... although I don't have a prints account, I do live close to a Kinko's
I am going to get a pretty big print for my room.
Anyways, thanks for the comment, much appreciated

Nice smooth colours and a great quality. Maybe not realistic, but dreamlike for sure. .

Forget using cloud stocks like that. What I would suggest here is to strip it all down to the main centre neb, maybe removing the wierd lines on the left of it.
Take a look at that part. A good look. Think about exactly WHAT you want to do with it before you start. The pic seems confused, cluttered.
Always think of illustration over special effects if you get me. Think about lighting. It'll help, trust me.
Apart from that just give Greg Marin's Capturing Heaven a read through again.
