Description
Close-up screenshot of my Compaq TC1000. A seller refurbished tablet computer that I recently got from eBay for $140 as a birthday gift four weeks ago. This photo features the tablet computer operating as a slate with the keyboard detached and in 768 x 1024 portrait format. The desktop features my Mechapuff and Mechapuff R4 character done by ~tersinc as a 5,555 kiriban gift. You can view the better version of the portrait screenshot here: img543.imageshack.us/img543/67…The Compaq TC1000 is meant to replace the aging Toshiba Tecra 720CDT laptop that I used for over a year, but I don't know if it's going to stick too much longer. The internal hard drive on this tablet is going bad and I expect that the hard drive is going to fail soon. The disk currently contains almost 700 reallocated sectors and 8 sectors that have recently gone bad.
Either I mishandled the unit when I first got it, the hard disk itself has manufacturing defects or the hard disk controller is going bad.
Here are the current specs for the Compaq TC1000:
Other features include:
The stylus digitizer takes 1 AAAA batteries...so in case the battery dies down, it can be easily replaced.
The Compaq TC1000 is a hybrid tablet computer that was made by Compaq in August 2002 before it was purchased by Hewlett-Packard. The TC1000 is such a popular product and has a cult following. The unit has won numerous industrial design awards in 2003.
Sorry if this is a bad screenshot, but I'll try to fix and update it soon.
Does anyone ever use the Compaq TC1000 anymore?
Update: Earlier today, I wiped the data off the hard drive as either the hard drive itself or the hard drive controller is about to fail. I will most likely have to find ways how to get it replaced soon. I most importantly backed up the i386 folder onto one of my USB hard drives incase I need to reinstall Windows XP on the tablet computer.
It's been weeks since I abandoned the TC1000. I may eventually abandon the TC1000 for a while for a different tablet. Right now, I'm using the Asus G1S-B1 laptop for the time being.

I used to have a TC1100(wacom penabled), and that was great to use until I stupidly sold it to an old associate who managed to destroy the screen(I don't know how he does it, but every screen he touches turn to shards within a few days). That screen was durable too

That's terrible that someone would want to destroy the screen.
How did he wanted to destroy the screen on the HP Compaq TC1100?
I currently have the TC1000 and I believe that I will most likely trade in for a better one as I'm starting to complain of poor performace with the TC1000.
