Description This is a stamp for those who don't want to upgrade from Windows XP, likes to use Windows XP as a guest operating system or that their old PC falls far short of the hardware requirements required to run current Windows-based operating systems.

Despite Windows XP recently moving from Mainstream Support to the Extended Support phase, it still remains the best selling operating system of all time...especially having almost totally dominating the operating system market with a 85.3% market share in a December 2006 report.

Hundreds of millions of people still use Windows XP worldwide. Windows XP is the operating system that will never die!

Yea, WinXP is gonna be no longer supported by microsoft at the start of 4th April 2014, what this means, is that there will be no more games, programs, etc. made by community COMBACTIBLE with WinXP. BE AWARE EVERYONE!!!

ppgrainbow In reply to KarBoy2314PL [2014-01-27 17:27:51 +0000 UTC]

Wrong. Windows XP will no longer be supported after 8 April 2014.

This means that Microsoft will no longer issue security updates/hotfixes, free or paid technical support and no further updates to online content. Since there are so many people still stranded on Windows XP, I'm pretty sure that some anti-virus vendors will continue to support the OS for at least two more years before the cord is cut.

i love windows xp my dad bought me a new computer from craigslist and it it runs great it's sad the support is nigh but thats ok cause i have superantispyware 2 keep my computer safe from hackers when the support ends

ppgrainbow In reply to HiruHikari13 [2013-12-08 21:31:46 +0000 UTC]

Yep. Windows XP support ends in April of next year and in the long term, vendors will have to stop providing anti-virus software for Windows XP once the marketshare falls enough.

do u mean even with super antivirus my computer will still be in danger?

ppgrainbow In reply to HiruHikari13 [2013-12-09 00:31:16 +0000 UTC]

Anti-virus makers will eventually phase out Windows XP support within a couple of years at most.

ppgrainbow In reply to HiruHikari13 [2013-12-09 14:56:10 +0000 UTC]

You can still use it indefinitely until the motherboard dies, but the OS will stop receiving updates next Spring and vendors will eventually phase out Windows XP support for good due to architectural limitations of the OS itself.

I'm still on Windows 2000, and it's too bad that the OS hasn't even been supported for over three years now.

ppgrainbow In reply to HiruHikari13 [2013-12-09 23:20:32 +0000 UTC]

Well...that's not 100% true as I can't expect SUPERAntiSpyware to support Windows XP forever as other anti-virus software stopped supporting older versions of Windows.

For consumers still clinging to Windows 98/Me or Windows 2000, I'd choose ClamWin Free AntiVirus.

A lot of people do. However, consumers using older operating systems aren't so lucky as they haven't been supported in years.

I agree XP is awesome, Vista is okayish but slow and buggy, but I like Windows 7 & 8. I grew up with 98 so I like the early Windows except for ME.

ppgrainbow In reply to Xirriggua [2013-11-03 18:51:41 +0000 UTC]

Especially, if you're one of the 31% of users still use Windows XP. I'm going to be very disappointed to see the OS fall off the support list in just five months time. I actually grew up with MS-DOS.

Xirriggua In reply to ppgrainbow [2013-11-03 18:52:39 +0000 UTC]

Ah, I still have it one of my old computers and I am using it right now on a virtual PC, and I miss 1998, it shame they stop supporting these old operating systems.

ppgrainbow In reply to Xirriggua [2013-11-03 18:53:39 +0000 UTC]

It sure is.

Xirriggua In reply to ppgrainbow [2013-11-03 18:58:38 +0000 UTC]

It would be nice if they would bring back the old ones but they would not have all of the functionality that 7 and 8 have, and they are all outdated sadly.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ppgrainbow In reply to Xirriggua [2013-11-03 18:59:39 +0000 UTC]

True. The OSes are outdated and users are being exposed to security risks that will never get fixed.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Xirriggua In reply to ppgrainbow [2013-11-03 19:17:41 +0000 UTC]

That and cause they dont get any more updates they are open to new threats, and some other fixes will never happen.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ppgrainbow In reply to Xirriggua [2013-11-03 20:01:05 +0000 UTC]

Not only that, Windows XP in the long term will be unable to cope with software and hardware incompatibilities once it falls off the support list.

Xirriggua In reply to ppgrainbow [2013-11-03 20:02:46 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, so true and eventually it will fall into the mists of time.

ppgrainbow In reply to Xirriggua [2013-11-03 20:31:05 +0000 UTC]

This will most likely happen as older PCs get replaced. Once by one.

I'm using Windows XP that support will end on 8th April 2014, but im now afraid of that, because nothing is gonna happen to my computer, and it will run normally. expect that the windows security-thing will stop uptading.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ppgrainbow In reply to KeshaTheWolf69 [2013-09-28 18:13:16 +0000 UTC]

All this means is that Microsoft will no longer issue security updates and neither provide free nor paid support for the nearly 12-year old OS and existing customers will have to upgrade to a later version of Windows.

The OS that I'm using, Windows 2000 has been out of support for more than 3 years now.

Its possible that hacker's might get in. (I used Windows XP on a old computer in 2008, it was super quick and i loved it.)

ppgrainbow In reply to GrimmerDark [2013-10-26 23:18:37 +0000 UTC]

That's going to be the biggest problem for Windows XP users in just a few months time.

GrimmerDark In reply to ppgrainbow [2013-10-26 23:23:42 +0000 UTC]

Whats going to happen?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ppgrainbow In reply to GrimmerDark [2013-10-26 23:40:12 +0000 UTC]

Windows XP will no longer be supported and any issues that arises after Microsoft drops support for that OS will never get fixed. In short, users still running the OS will be exposed to security risks.

And since October 2010, PC manufacturers were no longer allowed to pre-load Windows XP on new netbook computers. This computer originally came with Windows ME, however, it had been upgraded to Windows XP for a few years before downgrading to Win2k.

CRT1000 In reply to ??? [2013-05-21 16:37:53 +0000 UTC]

I heard that all support for it will end in 2014 while a another version of Windows XP will have its support end in 2016.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

ppgrainbow In reply to CRT1000 [2013-05-21 19:17:41 +0000 UTC]

Windows XP support ends on 8 April 2014. There are two other versions of Windows XP that will have its support come to a end.

First of all, it's Windows Embedded for Point of Service (PoS). Mainstream Support ended on 11 April 2011 and Extended Support will end on 12 April 2016. Next, it's Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 and it's based on the Windows XP SP3 codebase. Mainstream Support for Windows Embedded POSReady 2009 will end on 8 April 2014 and Extended Support for that OS will end on 9 April 2019.

Microsoft will still allow downgrade rights from Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate to Windows XP Professional (barring any support from hardware vendors) through no later than 14 January 2020.
