Featuring Demetrius , Icarus and Saria
Summer 328, Blooming Territories Shrine

Fangs of the Forest <-- Previous || Next --> Into the Thick of It

The following morning seemed to dawn earlier than anyone was expecting. Demetri had fallen asleep trying to decide where the group would go next. He was more than a little eager to seek out the shrine he had seen in his vision but he also knew Icarus was still being strangely standoffish about what he had seen. Had it been something bad? He couldn't figure out what could have been so bad that he wouldn't want to share. He had been pretty sure he had seen the wind marker light up when Icarus as moved into the ring of standing stones which had to mean..air magic right?

He shifted his head to hide his head when the first light began to hit his face, the stallion bumping into the sleeping form of Aldora. The little filly was out cold, snoozing contently against his side. He felt like she had the right idea and began to tuck his head when he heard a rustling on his other side. With a frown he lifted his head, eyes landing on the golden form of Icarus who was talking to Saria. He blinked, frowning only slightly because if he didn't know better he would have thought Saria looked a little...uncomfortable. Her ears were slightly back and a weak smile was on her face as she edged away from Icarus. He was just as cool and calm as as he normally was as he smiled and talked softly to the mare.

When her eyes met Demetri's, she perked and snaked around Icarus as she hurried over to him.

"Oh, good morning Demeteri. I hope I didn't wake you?" She whispered, eyes flickering to Aldora who continued to sleep.

"Huh? Oh...nah. Sun did that." He hummed, eyes flickering to Icarus who looked angry. Already? It was too early for this...

"I um...I was on a little walk when I realized Icarus was up. I came to a decision about those strange stones." She explained as Demetri perked up some more.

"Oh yeah?"

"Yes." Saria nodded. "I...think I want to enter the circle. I want to know if I have magic too." She confirmed as Demetri smiled back.

"That's great Saria." He hummed, glancing to Icarus as he made his way over. "Do you...want to go now?" He asked. "I know its early but I was thinking about trying to find out where the vision I saw yesterday means. I think its a location somewhere here, in the Blossoming Territories. I figured since we're already here, we might as well look for it." He explained. "Aldora is too young to seek out her vision, at least I think she is." He knew she would disagree but it wouldn't hurt her to wait a year or two. His eyes then slipped to Icarus since he was the mystery here.

"You never told me what you saw Icarus." He pointed out as the golden stallion snorted at him.

"It was just a bunch of mountains...nothing exciting." He shrugged. Well it was more than he had been willing to share before so Demetri figured it was progress.

"Well maybe we can find yours after...the Rift is north so.." He pointed out before glancing to Aldora again. "I know she'll be upset but...if you want to go now back to the stones we can Saria. If I try and wake her earlier she'll whine all day." He teased. "Besides, I feel like you can regale her later and she won't be too mad at us." He hummed as he shifted to hop up to his feet.

The dark mare smiled and gave a nod of agreement but closed her mouth when Icarus interrupted.

"WE were planning on going...you don't have to Demetri." He huffed, puffing out his chest a little. "Someone needs to watch Aldora after all." He insisted, eyes flickering to the filly who continued to sleep. Demetri gave him a small look, his eyes lifting to the standing stones which were just a few yards away through the trees.

"Uuhh...pretty sure she'll be fine." He insisted, eyes flickering to Saria who had shifted uncomfortable when Icarus had spoke up so quickly. "Besides I'm already up and I do want to know. Come'on...lets see what magic is hiding in your veins." He smiled, moving to walk with Saria. Icarus, always the grump, slunk behind the pair, ears flat and a frown pulling at his face. Demetri just opted to ignore him as his attention shifted to Saria.

"So...have any guesses? Or is there a magic you hope you have?" He asked curiously as he perked.

"Oh...I hadn't thought about it." She confessed. "I just hope I have magic honestly. It would be embarrassing to worry so much about this and then end up with nothing." She laughed lightly as did Demetri.

"Ahh I'm sure you have something. I mean you said so yourself, something called you here." He reminded as she took a small breath and nodded. The rest of the walk over was in silence as the trio arrived at the edge of the stones. The mare looked back at the two stallions who offered her small smiles and nods of encouragement as she finally stepped forward and entered the stone circle. Demetri kept an eye on her, smile stuck on his face as the once timid mare stepped forward and began looking up to the towering stones. It seemed as though Icarus had waited just long enough for her to be out of earshot before he turned to glare at Demetri.

"I don't know what you think you're doing but I've about had it." He hissed as Demetri's brows shot up. WHOA. Where was this coming from. He sort of just stood there in shock, blinking as the gold stallion continued. "Whatever little notions you have about Saria you best drop, okay? She and I have a connection and I'm not going to have you interfering with that." As Demetri started to catch on his own temper flared, not because he felt possessive over the mare but because of how he was talking about her. He spoke as if she was a shiny treasure to call dibs on, not a being with thoughts and feelings. Demetri felt his blood rush to his ears as he puffed up to Icarus in return.

"And I don't know what you think you're doing but I won't stand for you to make her feel uncomfortable." He hissed back. "We just met her Icarus, the last thing she deserves is for you to treat her like some sort of trophy. I don't care what she does or who she chooses if she chooses one of us at all. But I will not tolerate you upsetting her in any way. Am I clear?" He snapped back as the two stallions began to hulk up to one another. Icarus sneered at him, eyes flickering over the bay as if he was sizing him up.

"Oh yeah? And what are you gonna do about it? How do you know if she's uncomfortable or not?" He spat back, nostrils flaring.

Both stallions were pulled out of their heated discussion when Saria gave a gasp, drawing their attention back to her as she looked up excitedly at one of the towering stones. She thought she had seen light coming from one of the runes!!

Demetri and Icarus come to a boiling point over their newest herd member. Demetri thinks too little of himself to assume he has a shot with Saria but he sure as hell won't allow Icarus to make her feel uncomfortable. Before a spark can set the pair into a fight Saria calls for their attention when she thinks she sees a glimmer in one of the stones. What will her magic strain be!?

Also I feel so rusty drawing but I've missed these kids DX
