Abbreviated as:
X 1-3R
Purpose:
Standard medium resusable lifter for OTU and future light GSC cargo missions
Variations:
None currently in service
Planned:
Currently non-designated booster version.
Notes:
-Not enough power at lift-off and unsuccessful attempts at storing fuel for landing.
-Landing capabilities are untested at this time.
-Replace mainsail with more economical (and smaller) engine/possible cluster of engines.
-Use of RCS and airbrakes for stability most worrying.
-Near total LOC (Loss Of Control) during gravity turn.
-Possibility of heavy boosters to assist in heavier payloads.
-Standard version MUST be capable of launching OTU by itself.
Conclusion:
Further R/D needed.

I'm still trying to get it to get off the ground without using boosters at the moment and it's proving a little more difficult than I would like.

Slap some boosters on. Though make sure diminishing returns isn't at play here.
