Description: The South American Rattlesnake is a species of Pit Viper that is native across South America, there are 7 known subspecies of this Rattlesnake, all of which are known by different names, the species shown here is C. D. Terrificus, also known as the "Cascavel". Like all Rattlesnakes, this species is highly venomous, however the symptoms caused by the venom of the South American Rattlesnake greatly differs from the various Rattlesnakes found in North America. The combined presence of crotoxin and crotamine neurotoxins cause progressive paralysis, as well as impaired vision/complete blindness, auditory disorders, ptosis, and eventually life threatening respiratory paralysis. A study on the Rattlesnakes found in Brazil shows us that the Rattlesnakes in this region have 2 different types of venom, a "yellow venom" that attacks the nervous system, causes kidney & respiratory failure, muscle pain, and causes dark colored urine, and "white venom" that is highly hemorrhagic and causes increased bleeding. Despite this deadly venom it uses for hunting and defense against any threat that doesn't stay back after a warning from the snake's iconic rattle, the South American Rattlesnake is normally not aggressive towards Humans, more often fleeing before fighting back, but it will become defensive if cornered or if it feels threatened.

Personal Thoughts: This is another one of those reptiles that would be a great addition for a South American themed zoo, as most likely not many people, including myself, have heard about this Rattlesnake species before. However I do think this one could've been done better, mostly in its animations. This one has a fixed body position that does not look good when it moves around with what I think is the Nile Monitor animations. We've had an excellently made Snake animation from the Red-Tailed Boa, which has been used in various Snake mods ever since. But appearance-wise it looks good, and it has no bugs or glitches, the textures and modeling are accurate compared to the real animal, plus it breeds properly in the game. And I do like the attention to detail of it giving live birth, just like the real animal does.
