Love the linework and detailing on this one.
The small marks on the skin, textured shading on the hair is excellent.
Jaw and facial structure are good with the exception of the upper right tusk, unless it's been removed / lost in combat.

Thanks.Β You know I drew from a source so if there was no right tusk I didn't even notice.

Hello, professorwagstaff !
I'm here for ProjectComment 's Comment Tag. This is my first time playing this game, so bear with me Β I was given the word "WILD." I was looking through your gallery, but you've already got some constructive comments on the others so I chose this. It is pretty wild.
Β
First things first, I really wish you had a scanner, or at least a photo editor to adjust the contrast and values. I'm sure this piece looks much better off-screen than it does on-screen, and to think it already looks pretty damn great. Now more on the actual drawing: the proportion on the drawing is perfect and I love all the details. However, I do wish you had darkened the inside of his mouth and done a light grey all over his face just so you have more gradations and it's less black-and-white looking.
Also, it would probably look a lot more dramatic with starker highlights and a clear light source. (like if you had colored his face grey, you could have left some areas white and that would have given a more 3D effect. The hair (tentacles?) could also use some highlights, since they do appear quite shiny in the movies and here they look quite matte. All in all, very good, just needs some highlights and a bit more shading.
Now go check Miracat 's gallery and look for something WARM.

Thank you very much for your comment and suggestions. Β I really appreciate everything. Β You did a wonderful job for your first time out and I like how you applied your word to this drawing, very creative. Β I've been told numerous times about a scanner or photo editor. Β Well the scanner I have ain't going anywhere because it does work and I've tried downloading some free photo editing programs but with zero luck. Β So my drawings are what they are. Β

You're welcome! And about the photo editing, if you have a smartphone or tablet with a good camera, you could try taking a pic and then downloading an app to adjust the values. Camscanner works great for words and scanned documents, but I haven't tried it yet for drawings. Good luck!

Whats Up ^-^ I'm Here From ProjectComment's Current Submission Folder!
It Seems You've Got A Knack For Drawing Monstrous Creatures! (Which Is My Fav Kind Of Art)Β
All The Small Details Bring The Creature To Life So Perfectly! (Have I Seen This Somewhere Before? .-.)
Black And White Pencil Was A Great Choice For This, But Did You Think Of Adding AΒ Small BitΒ Of Color Such As Bright Red Or Stunning Green In The Eyes Or Any Other Area You'd Like To Draw Attention To? This Piece Looks Great Over All! Great Work!

Hello! I come here from ProjectComment !
I love this piece! I do mean LOVE - you are immensely talented. All the proportions and pencil techniques are done quite well. It conveys everything one would want in a Predator drawing.
The only piece of advice I could think to give would be to add a little more contrast around the mouth and maybe a little bit more on the forehead. Compared to the deep darks of the rest of the image they seem to be a secondary to the rest of the image to the eye.
Keep up the amazing work.

Hey there!
Personally I think this is an interesting and inspiring piece - and I'm definitely in love with the amount of detail and shading you put into it.
There's something a little dark about this - maybe it's the predator theme you've created in the atmosphere of this piece, but it gives the little bit of spice to it - for sure!
I'd have to say the eyes and detail of the hair has got Β to be one of my favourite aspects of this piece.
Since I'm not very good at traditional artwork, the only thing I could recommend working on with pieces like this would be, evening the shading. There's just a little bit of confusion - to me as to where the original light source comes from with this piece. But I truly think this is a very nice piece overall - and I definitely would love to see more.

My page is kind of laggy due to the fact one of my custom box backgrounds is far larger than I intended it to be.

Hi, IΒ΄m here from
This is a great piece of art. My favourite part of it are the details, especially the hair (?), the skin and the eye. How long did it took you to draw this? And may I ask if thatΒ΄s a fanart of an already existing creature or a creature you created on your own? Due to a contructive comment I must admid that the pencil strokes on the left side of the creatures head are a little blurred in my opinion. Do you wanted it to be like that or did this happend just by accident?
All in all a great work, keep it up!

professorwagstaff In reply to Hikatsuke [2015-11-03 18:40:14 +0000 UTC]
Thank you very much for the comment. I appreciate you taking the time to view the drawing and comment on it. To answer your questions, it is an already existing creature. It comes from the movie"Predator" starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. I think those lines to the left are due to a poor scan of the picture. I compared the picture on the website to the original drawing and there is no blur on the original. Thanks for noticing though. I need to work on improving my scans.
Lastly I couldn't tell you how long it took. I draw a little here and a little there. I draw several pieces at one time. All this adds up to me never knowing ho long anything takes.
Again, thanks I really appreciate the comment.
