This is my first serious foray into the realm of fantasy cartography. I created the project in GIMP (v. 2.6, I think) on Win XP (That poor system... 2GB Ram and 128Mb video card). The project followed, for the most part, a wonderful tutorial that RobA put up over at the Cartographer's Guild.
