I so wish that this shot had not cut off so much of my face, it would have been so awesome! Even so, I guess it's not too bad, especially when you consider it's a self-portrait, on a plain background(busy/dimensional backgrounds help tell me where I can stand in a self-port and still be in frame), AND taken with my 50mm lens, which is a challenge to focus in any portrait situation, let alone a self-portrait...In any case, I really liked this shot, and didn't want it to go unseen!

Lovely. It feels to me that you're in an awkward DOF range. If you can hold the pose, I'd push that 50mm to f/22 and go for more depth of field. Or you try the other direction and open it to f/1.8 or whatever the end of its range is and blur everything but your lips and hand.

indeed!! I'm really trying to work more with the dof and the 50mm, it can do some really awesome things, but you've really got to use it properly to get the right effects!

I have the Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens on my Rebel XTi. It's a tricky one.

Would've LOVED to have seen this shot zoomed out, to show the ENTIRE body, from the tips of your hair, to the tips of your toes.

hehe yeah, I debated switching to the wide angle lens, but the 50mm was set up already, and I;m really trying to use it more and get more familiar with it...
