Description
How did this happen? I will tell you! This is one of the most enjoyable images I have ever worked on. I was instantly drawn in by mjranum-stock's choice of model. I like her maturity, and actually accentuated the lighter shades of her hair. Her face, poise and grace carries with it that special something that baby-faced models just cannot match. She is empowered, and stands proud.
The blazing red colour of her dress was tough to tone-down. In the end I conceded defeat! It is such a dominant colour that trying to match the background was trial and error. I wanted the higher saturations to create a 300-esque lighting effect, and eventually got the right mix of warmth from both foreground and background. Fading out the very edges of the image, and creating her shadow was just normal practice in bringing the focal point right to her frame.
Sadly, getting the lighting perspective was near impossible. I tried flipping the image completely, but it just didn't make sense to fight an unwinnable battle. So although her shadow is going in the right direction, the lighting on her face is backwards.
Thanks to F3rd for the backdrop!
