Introducing Fuse

He’s a Nekomata . My friend Zolshii encouraged/inspired/badgered me to design one

I need to question her more about the species and world to fully build his personality and background but here is the gist of what I’m thinking:

A little about him: He is a pretty confident and ambitious fellow. He grew up in a household where he was the strongest due to his species. Because of this he got used of getting his way and being the best at everything. He doesn’t like ‘losing’ at all. He’s not the type that has romantic thoughts easily and would view pursuing women as a waste of time. He admires skills and confidence and I suspect he’d fall head over heels for the right gal. Perhaps Zolshii? Cackles quietly. He’s pretty empathetic and big brotherly towards children, with men his age being the hardest group for him to empathise with. He likes being alone and finds it hard to rely on others. He doesn’t overly respect the law. I’m yet to decide of his specific ambition, but he does have one. And I was thinking of making him a thief at some point, but I’m not sure now (he doesn’t really need to steal for sustenance so if I do roll with that he’d be stealing objects of magical significance or something). Loves getting his belly scratched.

Age: A little younger than Rui
Background: He grew up in Cairo with an adopted 'well off' family with mild genetics or significance to the rulers of Cairo. I'm yet to 'find out' what happened to his family. He doesn't remember much and is curious about why his parents weren't/aren't in his life. As a child his time was spent helping out with his younger step siblings, in tutoring (not rigorous education but some; literacy, fighting) and slipping away to play with whatever kids on the streets were available. He knew his family would not approve of this behaviour so he gave them the impression he does it far less than he actually does. During his street outings he made various friends, one of them a poor young, female Nekomata. The girl ended up, due to financial desperation, having to work for Bastet , the owner of a brothel. They were still quite young when this occurred. When he found out he impulsively broke into the brothel to somehow talk his friend into leaving, or even forcing her to go. It's not like he barges into the front door - he finds a way to enter unnoticed. Unfortunately he is caught by Bastet who may or may not be urr servicing... a customer. Either way as punishment she pretty much sexually assaults him. When she lets him have an opportunity to escape he takes it. He never returns to the brothel. He obviously became more troubled after that and uncomfortable with sexuality. He never told anyone until years latter. The female Nekomata wonders what ever happened to him and a few times sees him, but Fuse quickly escapes a conversation. She can tell he's uncomfortable around her and concludes that he believes her to be a dirty brothel worker. In truth she reminds him of the trauma he received from Bastet. By the time he is an adolescent he learns of a nakomata who can see into the past, present and future (Zolshi ). Zolshi is taken with Rui when he flees the city (Bastet's doing). She is just a kitten at this stage. Fuse wanted to consult her and learn what happened to his parents. I'm not sure just what he does from here!

- Does he go after Zolshi?
- Does he Leave Cairo? Is he able to stomach Bastet having so much fame and influence?
- Does he know Rui? He'd at least know of him, but they may not have met/ conversed.
- Story (or even truth) his step parents tell people when they ask how on earth they ended up with Fuse (so obviously a different breed/species to their own). Does he believe them?
